<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE (Racejumkie @ Nov 2 2006, 12:06 AM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}><div class='quotemain'>I think Honda is so serious about winning that they throw everything at it they can. That is not to say the other manufacture aren't, but Honda certainly trumps when it comes to budget. As far as their corporate culture, they can be a “little robotic.”

But I must say, I think the rider compensates for a lot and for this season, I’m not so sure I would credit the Honda as the champion as I would the rider.

I like the part that you say (paraphrasing here) if there’s a problem with the bike, Honda’s response is, nah buddy you’re the one with the problem.” Don’t fully agree but funny nonetheless.

i can only use rossi's book as a reference for my comments but that's certainly the impression i got.

he said ducati had a similar kind of attitude to honda too ?

i personally thought duke would be the exact opposite but what do i know ?

jumkie - as a hayden fan (you don't say !) do you not think that Honda getting hayden testing new parts for the RCV - some of which were clearly ..... - when the bike is at the end of it's life was a little odd ? Especially when it was costing him what turned out to be valuable points.

what's the point - if it ain't perfect now - it never will be.

Honda with bikes are like Frank Williams with cars, they dont really care who wins the title or how, as long as has there name on the side.

Actually, I own a Ducati, and was fortunate to visit the factory last January; but my impression was the opposite, it seemed open and inclusive. And while I was in the military, while in Japan, was fortunate to visit Honda. And the impression there was ordered. But Ducati did mention that their racing development was completely a separate entity to the manufacture. Ducati is microscopic compared to Honda.

As far as getting Honda to test stuff by the points leader at the time I agree was odd (to say the least). My explanation for that is that Puig’s hand was evident. That is to say, Pedrosa was their great hope as their number 1, as Puig lead them to believe.

FYI: I'm a fan of Hayden yes, but also a fan of Marco, Rossi, Roberts, Bayliss, E. Bostrom, Loris, Hopper, and all the rest of the GP/SBK/AMA (with the exception of Mladin), but most of all, I'm a fan of Travis Pastrana.

mr double-back flip eh ?

he's got balls man

Rossi went to Yamaha because Honda never gave him an NSR to take home with him.

Baldylocks, you're right on with the assessment of Honda, IMO anyways. It's majority bike and minority rider that wins the title and if you can't win with it then you're riding it wrong. I read Rossi's book too and thought it was strange that Ducati operated similarly to Honda. I guess it's not all that surprising though, they've had just as much a revolving door of factory riders as Honda have as of late.

Wondering what you think about this. I read on another thread that the Honda won the championship not Hayden. What say you?.. and anybody else who wants to chime in.
well the bikes dont go around the tracks by themselves,i believe its more rider than machine but it's surely a big advantage to have a fast reliable bike to do it on.

this is an engineers attitude he speaks of. it's like this in any field where guy's who draw the plans & figure the calculations are never wrong. cause they've already figured it out & they could'nt possibly wrong now could they.
