Recently I poked some fun at Moto gp and Scot Hondas newest rider Gabor Tlamasci. After watching his recent interview on "after the flag", I felt like a total ......./...... after watching. First of all being that he comes from Hungry he already has a disadvantage (the name of the country says it all) he doesnt have the perks the spanish italian australian and american riders do. He said for his first race ever he had to sleep in his car because he had no trailer and now hes worked his way up. Then the part where i really took respect for him was when asked how he is looking to do in Brno, his answer was very honest, he didnt ......... he said something like I know a podium or win is not realistic but if i can finish mid pack ill be happy. So for a dude from Hungry who went from sleeping in his car while riding 125s to now being a part of a Moto gp satelite team he has accomplished a lot and even though i didnt mean it i still felt bad for making fun of him. So as the man I am I admit i was wrong and ask for forgiveness from Both Gabor and all his fans. ohh yeah Ill be rooting for him when Brno comes around

I think there is an "A" in there somewhere...
But yes.. Gabor is a pretty impressive dude.. I respect him as a rider and talent. He seems to be adapting much quicker than TakaCrashi. Let's hope that he continues.

The 250's are crammed with Talent.. I would like to see Bautista, Simoncellit, Babera make the leap as well. If the lot of talent is on competitive machinery.. Lookout.. the series will be on fire next year.

I didn't know all of what you just described there, but regardless California Kid, the man's got fuccin talent.....whether he was born a spoiled brat (Rossi) or not. But just hearing now the .... that he's been through, I'm glad that he's able to reach his dream...and for him maybe just being in MotoGP is enough, but to me I say Fucc it..... he's got potential to make a name for himself so he shouldn't lower his goals just because he came from nothing, he already made it this far...and I think he deserves a place in the big show that is MotoGP.

I wonder why there isn't any Japanese star in Moto Gp except for the late Daijiroh Katoh. Unlike Gabor Tlamasci, the Japanese has all the opportunities, bikes, supports and resources but never being in even Top Five List in recent years. I salute Gabor for his achievement.

Me too They Invented the god damn things! They build the best ones! But in defense of the Japanese they have hope with Ayoma. Haga is good too but not Moto GP good.

In Gabors defense he is not selling him self short, he is just realistic. No one elseis going to beat Rossi Lorenzo or stoner in the title race this year. Not even with another Factory bike, let alone a satelite bike

Haga and Kiyonari are WSBK riders.Except for Tamada (Ukawa ?), others have not won any MotoGp races in recent years. It was a once off performance with Camel Honda Pon and never won any races after the Brazilian GP in 2004.

Ah sorry in motogp Doh.

Ukawa - you mean you dont know who he was or he wasnt good? He came third in 2002 and never finished worst than 5 except 2 dnfs... couldve got second if he was more competetive in those two and the fifth

The main problem in Japan is the lack of support for motor-racing. The national championships have been taken off air and the only way to get news is to read the monthly magazines and catch the occasional race if they come to your state. With the lack of coverage, most new riders now are brought into the sport by either friends or family, mostly into touring instead of sport. By the time they really get into motorsports, they're well past their teens and real life catches up.

The current stars in the national championships are mostly the old guys, the ones that've been doing it for years. Sadly, no potential rookies have been spotted yet. Honda has done their part to promote motorsport to the young ones by starting their own minibke cup, so we may yet have another Dai-chan (as so lovingly called) in 5 years' time.

Good call CK. I'm now rooting for the Hungarian. Thanks for bringing this to light. A man's character is always more important than mere numbers.

Go Gabor!

If you can follow Rossi, you're pretty good.
