Funny to think that until last year when Baggy took the top of the podium, Ducati hadn't taken the win there since Stoner won all the way back in 2008.
This year it'll be "All aboard the Ducati train." For me, wanting to see a KTM win.
Predictions?

I'd like to see a KTM win too.
Only chance apart from a Ducati it seems.
Disappointing with the Aprilias this season so far. I hoped they be closer, not further away.
Blame the riders. I think the bike is just fine.

I want to see Binder win, but agree with Kesh that it will likely be a Ducati train again. Fabio has said if the Yam doesn't go well here, it won't go well anywhere.

Also, is the beast still recovering from injury or just not gelling with the 23 Ducati? I read somewhere he is having issues with front end feel.

He is still recovering. He is getting very sore mid race. I think he is being smart by not over doing it. As for aprillia this is typical Vinales. The grass is always greener and by his second season he is .... 99% of the time. Then he will pull one good result out of his ... to keep him around. I wish he would go away. Put Marc on that bike.

Last year Aprilia had pace at Assen, but last year they still had the concession mojo working for them. Maybe Aprilia can slow the Ducati freight train. Still holding out hope that Mav can get the job done and win for 3 different manufacturers. He would be the first in the MotoGP era, I think. Wouldn't mind seeing a bit of history before he retires.

If my KTM dream team ain't available, I'll take Marc and Fabio at Aprilia!

They would ride with pretty cheap contracts in that case. But I bet both would agree to a lower salary right now in exchange for a better bike. Which the Aprilia might not be, yet. It has looked pretty stagnant and overall worse than it did the past year.

“The start was not bad. I knew I had some good opportunities in the first laps so I attacked. I was in P5, which was good, but then by lap 10 already the tyre started to drop and in the last six laps was super dangerous. I couldn't really manage the tyre.”

But even without the tyre mistake, Espargaro feels Ducati, whose riders filled eight of the top ten places, is “on another planet”.

“I think it was eight Ducatis in the top nine. So I think today I could finish in ninth place quite OK. But I'm aiming for more. This is why we tried a gamble with the soft tyre, but it didn’t pay off,” Espargaro explained.

“I said from the pre-season that I like my [2023] bike. But the bike is 3 or 4% different than the ‘22 spec. This is why we didn't improve enough. [But] Sincerely, I didn't expect that Ducati improved that much from last year, but they did. I think it was 20 seconds faster. So we don't have the level.”

AE seemed to go pretty well last year. He is injured but wasn't using that as an excuse.
He is in a better position to know than I and I don't see him angling for a spot on another bike or lying to protect his position.
Yes it would be good to see others on there. Vinales is never going to be world champ but has very good speed when he is happy and has the tool for the job. He still hasn't won yet.

Ducati have built a bike that appears to work at all circuits, quite impressive

Bastainini has gone from the GP21 straight to the GP23 I think? If that's correct I'm wondering how much more adaption there is over a 1 year step?

Adoption being at the factory team too I imagine.

That quote was from A. Espargo, he is saying the Ducatis have improved more than the Aprilias have.

Depends what they want more, money or victory I guess. Ayrton Senna offered to drive for Williams for free in 1993. Not sure about Fabio, but Marc could easily afford to ride for a year with no salary, bearing in mind they get endorsements.

Don't mind me, I'm just bummed at 3 world champs on the grid being on .... bikes and no one to challenge Bagnaia expect some customer Ducati's.

Marc was lapping slower than Icuona for most of P2, then the second he tried to push behind Vinales the front just washed out at T3. Ridiculous. He was laughing when he got back to the puts with Santi, so maybe he knows something we dont.

Also, I added it to the 2024 thread, but they were talking about Rins and Mir potentially being at Yamaha next yr.

Unusual session. Bezz and Vinales times from P1 held most of the session. Martin looked threatening most of the session, and his bike looked planted, but he kept running into minor issues, until making a quick lap at the end. Jorge Martin passes the eye test. We'll see what he has on race day.

You ever had a job that you were over? You decided .... it I'm just going to do the bare minimum to collect my paycheck. If they fire me who gives a ..... Thats Marc right now.

Not just Marc.

i am in one of these very example jobs at the moment and am totally just claiming the pay - had enough of the ambient BS that surrounds.

I am seeing signs in MM and on a totally serious side, I hope he is getting the appropriate support from those around him (and I suspect he is and will) so that he does not lose that MM confidence in his ability.
