2010 AMA National Series - Spoilers

Well I think he's got Reed covered. Stewart to, but by default on account that hes busy being a ...... Villo, he did beat him a few times while Ryan was healthy in SX. Of course, the outdoor series is a real animal, and that were they separate the men from the boys. I think we'll have to wait for next year.

So what you guys think about our chances this year in the Des Nations?

Our chances as Des Nations are pretty good. Dungey is nails right now, Canard as well, the weak link is Short. But I will give Short some props of late his riding has been very good but he seems to fade a little toward the end of the moto's. There is some luck with with the Des Nations and Team USA has had it for a few years, we will have to see if that continues.

Now you got a bopper pissed.

First few races Villo wasn't right. Dungey had rode the outdoors and came in a lot more prepared. Villo was sitting home with a ripped up knee. It took him a few races to get up to speed and than the Dungey ... whooping began.

Anaheim 1- Villo 5th Dungey 2nd

Phoenix villo 2nd dungey 1st

Anahein 2- Villo 7th Dungey 1st

... whooping time

San Fran- Villo 1st Dungey 4th

San Diego- Villo 4th Dungey 6th

Anaheim 3- Villo 1st Dungey 4th

Indy - Villo 1st Dungey 2nd

Atlanta Villo19th Dungey 1st

Daytona Villo 1st dungey 2nd

Toronto Villo 1st Dungey 2nd

Dallas Villo 4th Dungey 1st

Houston Villo 1st Dungey 5th

Jax Villo 1st Dungey 2nd

St louis Villo Out end of season

The last ten rounds villo beat dungey eight times. In dallas Villo got a ...... start and dungey checked out even though in the end villo was faster.

Atlanta was the killer. The 19th place (can't remember if it was mechanical or crash) at Atlanta really put Villo in an almost unwinninable situation, Because of that Villo had to make up ridiculous points and that really was the lync pin in Dungey's gifted championship season.

Dungy wins the 2010 Outdoor series, congrats to him.

Canard and Pourcel still undecided, but I think Pourcel will pull it out.

Wow, this is huge! Bad news for Suzuki IMO.

----------------------------------

The following release is from Suzuki...

Team Suzuki Press Office - September 2.

The championship-winning Rockstar Makita Suzuki team and Roger DeCoster will be parting ways after the close of the 2010 Lucas Oil AMA Pro Motocross season.

DeCoster has been Team Manager for Suzuki's Supercross and Motocross efforts for 15 years, and together they have earned numerous titles and championships. DeCoster will continue to lead the team through the final two rounds of the Motocross series.

The championship-winning Rockstar Makita Suzuki team, led by Ryan Dungey, earned the 2010 AMA/FIM Supercross title in May and wrapped up the 2010 Lucas Oil AMA Pro Motocross championship last weekend at Southwick, making him the most successful rookie in Supercross and Motocross history.

For now, the Rockstar Makita Suzuki team plans to focus on finishing off the 2010 season strong and celebrate the incredible year it has been. For 2011, the Rockstar Makita Suzuki team looks forward to defending its championships with Ryan Dungey sporting the number one plate in both the Supercross and Motocross series. The team will begin the search for a new manager in preparation for the 2011 race season.

American Suzuki Motor Corp., the Rockstar Makita Suzuki racing team, Rockstar Energy Drink, Makita Industrial Tools, Yoshimura R&D of America, and all the sponsors of the team wish Roger the best in his future endeavours and thank him for the great years spent together at the races.

"You can never replace an icon like Roger," said Yoshimura R&D of America Vice President Don Sakakura. "However, with Suzuki and Yoshimura's racing DNA still strong as ever, and with the core nucleus of the team staying the same, we are looking forward to defending the 2010's championships. Roger has made great contributions with Suzuki and certainly has the utmost respect, friendship, and our acknowledgement of a job well done. We wish him nothing but good luck in the future."

I know there are only a handful of folks watching the thread, but did anyone catch the Steel City round? First, Windham with the overall in the 450 class is just awesome, glad to see him grab that. Dungey showed in the 2nd moto who's boss, but the 450 result was cool nonethless.

250 class, holy "given it up to the Lord Jesus Christ" Canard is the real deal, held off a charging Pourcel twice to take 1-1 and the overall for the weekend. I'm sure Pourcel has thought a lot about last year and loosing the title to Dungey and now he has this pesky Canard guy that won't go away. After the 2nd moto Pourcel's body language was of a beaten man, lets see if he can pull those French knickers up and kick the door down for a championship.

Yeah, but dude was there 15 years. I think the man deserves a vacation.

Nothing but respect for the man, he is a living legend in dirt biking.

I heard he left because Zook woulnd't give him a 3 year deal, only a year to year contract. He wanted a 3 year deal so that he could retire at the end of the contract. Bad news for Suzuki, they should have offered him at least a 2 year contract, he may have taken that. If Honda is serious about getting their program back on track, hiring DeCoster for 3 years would be a good start.

edit too late for Honda....looks like KTM will be stepping it up...see link below.

L8, if that is true, Suzuki have no shame and not sense.

all pourcel has to do is finish 2nd in both motos.... and thats if canard wins both. i think he'll do it... none of the others can keep up with him.

Congrats to Canard, 2010 250 Outdoor Champion.

I'm really bummed for Pourcel, it was his to loose and he did it by dislocating his shoulder and not making the 2nd moto effectively giving the championship to Canard. I really wanted to see that championship come down to the last moto and the last lap. Great racing and IMO 250 upstaged 450 this year.

got to feel for the guy but it was his to lose & it was his inconsistency through out the season that lost it.

Believe it or not, I was actually excited to see the season finally. Pala is about an hour from where I live, they have a big Indian casino there. I didn't go, but I can imagine there was probably some good night life after the races. I'm still pondering if I like the track or not. I'm still upset that they eliminated Glen Helen out, as it was perhaps one of the most demanding tracks in the series. Pala seemed to be more like a made for TV track. Its elevation changes didn't convince me, but then again I only saw it on TV.

Congrats to Canard (or as JohnnyK calls him "Christnard"). hahaha And again a congrats to Dungey. I was actually happy for Canard as his emotion on the podium was genuine. The fact is his determination won him this title, not Pourcel's crash. Besides, I can't root for a Frenchy.

Yea, Jum's glad the season is over as well. This thread will die soon, probably won't start another Outdoor thread unless there is something spectacular happening, only a few of us comment anyway.

I'm with you on Glen Helen, season didn't seem right without it. I've watched races there as far back as I can remember. Watching the pro's bomb the downhills almost and sometimes out of control really made me respect the place and I've never layed eyes on it.

Go Team USA in the Des Nations!
