2009 season dark horse?

<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE (The California Kid @ Feb 2 2009, 05:56 AM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}><div class='quotemain'>Lorenzo and Dovi I don't think nicky is a dark horse being that he was already a world champ!
+1 esp lorenzo. i think rossi knows this which is why he wants the garage divide to remain even tho there on the same rubber now.

not cheating my friend, just looking after his hard work thats his advantage. i think the advanage will only last for the first few races then riders like lorenzo and dovi will be on it

. we could have some interesting races this season provided we get to see them on bbc.

<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE (Sam 25 @ Feb 2 2009, 04:38 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}><div class='quotemain'>Yea i really hope he aint just a one season wonder. I have followed him all thw way through AMA and it would be good to see Hayden win 1 more title in moto gp then move across to World Superbikes on the factory Honda.
YEaH cause that is what a moto gp champion would decide to do is win a championship on a Ducati and say no I want to go ride a piece of .... honda in WSBK. LOL!!

I have a lot of confidence in Lorenzo, although I don't think he will surprise us this year with anything spectacular.

This season should be Hayden's. He's been screwed over so many times by Honda, and I hope he has found his niche at Ducati.

Stoner and Rossi is going to be the 2 on top, no doubt in my mind.
Lorenzo, Puigdrosa,Hayden and Dovisioso for the 3rd to 6th.I think Lorenzo will do better than Dovisioso and hopefully Fagdrosa too.The dark horse should be someone in a sattelite team,so i vote for Kallio. If he doesn't crash too much i think and hope he can do really well in the second half of the season.I think he can get podiums even.

My initial pick would be Hayden, I would love to see his tenacity and hard work pay off with a good season. My gut says he may struggle with the Duc, we will know soon how the Sepang test goes. Aside from Nicky, I like Lorenzo. If he sticks to railing corners rather then acrobatics he could be a contender. Hopefully Bridgestone will be able to back his confidence, his major off at Laguna last year was too much confidence in a tire that Michelin screwed up on. Thankfully this year there will be no bitching about tires. Which begs the question, what is Puig going to pick this year for Dani's excuse for not winning?

That he is secretly being drugged in order to hinder his motor skills?

Don't underestimate the man, he's creative.

I reckon it will be Honda R&D cut backs due to the Global economic slow down

Asimo reminds me so much of Biaggi

I think that Lorenzo is going to show up this year. With that being said it should be real interesting to see how Dovi matches up now that he is on a factory bike and similar tires. Dovi has always had the crappy machinery excuse, he may even have that this year because of who is calling the shots on the other side of the garage.

I think the overall Dark Horse would have to be Giberneau. Who the .... knows how this guy is going to get back in the program? It could go either way.

On paper, the 2009 season looks amazing. On the track, well we'll see. I don't have my hopes up too high

Dovi has never really been one for making excuses, but a lot of his fans have always used this excuse. It's validity is debatable.

Your right, he doesn't have to make the excuse because everyone does it for him. Takahashi proves that his Honda in 250's was a POS, either that or Tak is all talk. Now if you are asking about his Jir/Scott Honda in GP then I think that is debateable. I think it will also be debatable whether he gets the same treatment as the other side of the garage. He could get a Repsol bike in skin only

Dovi proved that the JiR/Scot Honda was a good ride. I will go out and say now that Takahashi will not come close to the success that Dovi had in his rookie year with the team. But then again, everyone already knows this. Like you are saying, maybe Honda will give their countryman a "factoryish" bike, but do you think it will even matter?

Dovi is going to be a real factor for Pedrosa/Puig. I hate to say it but Hayden never got on well with the 800cc, old news now, but Dovi's performance last year makes him a real threat to the prima donna side of the garage.

Yuki proved that the bike was capable of decent results when ridden well. I don't think it was the best bike out there by any means but i don't think it was any kind of disgrace.

I agree , that is a bit harsh on Loris. I would like to see the Rizla's do well, but my horses would have to be Dovi and Kallio, you can't go wrong with the flyin fin.

I wouldn't call Hayden a dark horse either, but I don't think Lorenzo would be a dark horse, hell he's one of the top five. Hows the weather, it was -27 here in Minnesota yesterday. I can't wait until Indianapolis!
