So the only race was the motogp event? wat a waste...couldnt catch the 250cc riders....sheesh.. No wonder...I was thinking why they had only 1 event for leguna seca.

I think two strokes are allowed in Cali, for closed circuit racing.

The real reason is something like they have lesser events in the lower classes, and it is deemed too far to travel to do Laguna. In the lower classes the expense also matters.

Yep and they were the last

The emission laws are a new thing on me. I'd never heard about that until people started mentioning it on here, because of course last year they ran the Red Bull rookies support race. I thought the absence of the support classes was due to the busy AMA schedule, which doesn't happen at Indy - hence the 125's and 250's race there. When Laguna hosted the World Superbikes up until and including '04, World Supersport never raced there for the same reasons - simply that they couldn't accommodate it in the timetable of races. So the emission laws are not the sole reason.

so the red bull rookies that race at laguna are on 4 strokes?

ignore the anti-pollution laws, its money and time. to much money for the smaller lesser funded 250 and 125 teams to travel to all the fly-away races and there is not enough time in the day to have motogp, 125, 250 and all the AMA races. something had to give and it was the smaller gp classes. also helped by the fact that there are no 2 stroke road bikes for sale in the USA and you can see why. its got nothing to do with the californian anti-pollution laws, seeing as they are used only on private land for closed course competition.

more than the money aspect of traveling (they already go to far away places like Japan, malasia etc) I think it is more that Laguna already has the AMA races to fill the schedule...so no space for the 125/250's...

one of my great memorys of Laguna seca is crossing the redbull bridge with the smell of 2 stroke castor oil in the air
<

As other have said they do eace strokers in cali. i saw the redbull rookies at laguna. I dont think there would be time to race 125 & 250 gp there as they race AMA at the same weekend.

Altho you cant buy 2 stroke road bikes in cali i saw plenty around monteray and in the laguna car park. most with Arazona number plates.

2 strokes are not banned here in Cali! They are regulated but that mainly applies to dirt bikes, you can only ride them a certain time of the year. It doesnt apply to road bikes because people who ride and race 2 stroke machines usually do it at tracks which are privatly owned. The real reason 125's and 250's dont come to Laguna is the money and the AMA. I would much rather see the 125s and 250s than the AMA and all theyre BS!!!!

wrong.......

they did not bring the 125s & 250s because when gp returned in 05 they thought to keep the wsbk thing going with the ama as support class's. with the fiascoe that is ama today they very well could bring the 125s & moto2 class next season..... 1 can hope anyway....

c'mon barry do you really think this is the case? so i guess going to austrailia or malaysia isn't so far...
<

with the ama there theres just no room for them... the paddock as well as the track is small.

I'd think it be less since our dollar is .... ATM. (It would have been like traveling to Canada back in the old day, you know, when we could brag that out dollars 'was' stronger.

Yup, when they considered bringing back GP to the States, they didn't think it would attract enough people as a stand alone, so they crammed the AMA here. But I'd rather see the lower classes 10x over the AMA, especially the new DMG version. (I guess DMG didn't want to lose their opportunity to embarrass us with the international community by parking a "safety" car at the fastest blind section of the track, eh.

I think Laguana, with its uniques track layout and elevation changes would rock with the 125/250s.

i was so dissapointed when i went in 05 but hey after that clown show that everyone was treated 2 courtesy of dmg maybe dorna will wise up & bring them next season.
<
