I'll be flying in to run the Skip Barber cars later tonight, but the 12 hours is looking to be a great race.

You have Peugeot bringing a car over. You have Audi, 2 Porsche teams of two cars/ team. Acura has a huge squad of cars. Corvette Racing is here. Aston Martin has brought in a few GT2 cars. Ferrari is set with a few teams. Porsche has their cars. Panoz has a car and a new engine. Alternative fuels are in for the race with ethanol and diesel making up the majority of the fuels for the cars.

Go Jamie Melo and Ferrari.

Q1 was bad. 22 drivers qualified, plus 5 guys in the Masters Class (for drivers 40+) and I will start in 8th. But to make it worse, I come in the pits with the Dyson Porsche guys rolling their car out onto the pits while I was entering the paddock an SMACK! I nailed the end of the LMP 2 car. Didn't do any damage, but pissed off some nice people.

The night practice for the ALMS guys was fun. Last year the Flying Lizard Porsche and the Ferrari Corse team's raced down to the end for the finish and they were doing the same during the practice.

I'll try and catch as much of the 12 hours as I can. Looks to me like Peugoet have got the measure of Audi this year, I'll be supporting them come Le Mans.

Well at LeMans, I think some LMP2 team's could make an inpact. Penske is rumored to come.

How? The P2s will get whipped on the straits at Le Sarthe. The only place they can consistently win overall is in the ALMS, on the tight north American tracks.

True, at Road America, the P2 machines were getting their butt whipped. I think the cars could challenge for a bottom podium, but not the overall win. Retirements occur, so if a few P1 cars go out, top P1 cars, I think a P2 car could get up there. Plus, the ACO has some restrictions on the P2 cars that hurt them against the P1 cars.

As for retirements, the little prototype class has consistently been the one hit hardest by attrition. Remember the Reynard VW that won the class several years in a row? It wasn't fast, but it won by outlasting everyone else. I wouldn't expect an LMP2 in the top 3 overall unless there is a lot of rain and one of them actually runs reliably.

With the team Jos Verstappen is running in with the Porsche, and the possbility of the Penkse and Dyson guys going to France, the P2 class would have a huge boost over what has raced the last few years. I think Acura is having a team come over too. The ALMS P2 grid is alot more reliable and better than the Euro teams.
