Yamaha's tradition of running occasional one-off liveries will continue under their new title sponsorship deal with FIAT, the team have confirmed to autosport.com.
Lead rider Valentino Rossi has often made his own mark on his home race at Mugello, for example, with past liveries include a hippy-themed 'Love and Peace' 250 bike, a Haiwaiian 500, and a variety of different crash helmet designs.
Teammate Colin Edwards also participated by running a patriotic stars and stripes colour scheme on his M1 for his home race at Laguna Seca last year.
"FIAT have the option to propose some liveries to Yamaha this year," team managing director Lin Jarvis confirmed.
"We have a concept with FIAT, but we have not yet seen any designs. It will be a surprise as to when these liveries appear..."
