Yamaha and Fiat to continue together for two more years

I agree with that. I'd like to see something different on the Yamaha for '09.

Just be glad they've not got Petronas sponsoring them, like it's been rumoured they might have done.

Anything's better than that horrible green of the FP1.

who wants to bet that fiat drop yamaha the minute rossi retires/leaves them?
coincidence that they both signed on for 2 more years?
maximise the marketing potential of rossi, he wont be around forever.

I'll bet on that, you wanna bet against?

they won't drop yamaha if in the span of two years (assuming rossi retires after two years), jorge would be as good as, or nearly as good an endorser as rossi. for now, they're maximizing rossi's marketing potential, but the apprentice is doing good too.

Giving for granted that the real apprentice/heir of Rossi at Yamaha is Lorenzo, whose contract (I think) expires at the end of 2009, and not someone else, still in 250, with no apparent hurry to move up before 2010...
<

But even with the 'right' rider for them, the real problem of Fiat as a sponsor of Yamaha is a subtle conflict of interest. Fiat own Ferrari, and Ferrari are sooooo close to Ducati...

nope, they both end at the end of 2010 if i read it right...

Exactly! And last year, they were both 1st, weren't they

Speak of parallel destinies...

Then maybe next year both 3rd! (I say it for you, since you wouldn't have resisted!)
