goooogling

World Superbike Imola - Race 2 Results:
1. Fabrizio M. (ITA) Ducati 1098R 38'23.143 (162,023 kph)
2. Haga N. (JPN) Ducati 1098R 3.592
3. Simoncelli M. (ITA) Aprilia RSV4 Factory 6.510
4. Biaggi M. (ITA) Aprilia RSV4 Factory 7.445
5. Spies B. (USA) Yamaha YZF R1 14.678
6. Rea J. (GBR) Honda CBR1000RR 16.396

yeah a third but don't know if he's riden a superbike before..good show though

It wasn't his first Superbike "Ride" but I think that it was his first superbike "race". Also, hasn't Somincelli done 1000's of laps around Imola?? I would argue about the race that he got his podium (the pass on Biaggi) but that is for another thread.

I said years ago that someone was missing the money train by not having some kind of allstar series of 2 events and 4 races between the top 5 of each series with 2 races each at a track the other doesnt visit. It would be a money bonanza.

I would love to see that........ a race on R1s, a race on ducati 1198s, a race on 800 M1s and a race on Ducati or Honda 990. Tally the points and find a winner....

Think about what you would pay on a pay per view basis for something like that. I would easily pay 200.00 to see it.

What a friggin brilliant concept.
I'm with ya. That would be priceless.

There is a lot of overlap between MotoGP and WSBK, but their really shouldn't be. As much as I love WSBK, I really despise the Flaminis for turning rabid during the 2001-2003 international racing transition. WSBK should have seen a modest increase in capacity for 4 cylinder engines (maybe 800cc) and fixed bore rules. Instead, we got fuel injection and massive increase in bore size (from 69-71m to 76-80mm). Bigger pistons, bigger valves, fuel injection, more revs. It all equals a doubling in power, price, and quadrupling in the amount of skill necessary to ride them properly. It's killing the industry. The 600s aren't helping anything either. At least the Japanese realized they were about to kill the segment so they fixed bore at 67mm.

Anyway, just having a gripe b/c production sportsbikes keep getting prettier on paper, but worse for the person in the saddle who pays the bills. The Flaminis are partially responsible for that. I want a sportsbike that I can thrash for half a generation before I NEED to get a new one. When you don't NEED to buy a new one, you always WANT to buy a new one.
