Contrary to various rumors, there is no plan to change World Superbike's successful rules structure and to make it similar to the one of the Supersport or Superstock classes. Obviously we are continuing to work in cooperation with the teams, the manufacturers and FIM in order to keep costs under control and evolve the series considering the changing market conditions, but we have no intention to reduce the appeal of the championship for manufacturers, teams, riders, media and fans.

SO, have they caught on that gutting performance reduces the appeal of a series, or is that a play on words, saying, if we gut performance and the series loses its appeal, that was not our intention.

Supersport rules don't gut performance. If they use Supersport rules, the manufacturers will build homologation specials and we go back to the mid-90s.

Does that sound like a bad thing? Supersport is just a word, it doesn't really effect the quality of the equipment or the performance. It just changes the amount of work that must be done to stock bikes.
