Yes, 200cc and still down on top end on the I4s. The V twin will be history as far as superbike racing goes in the next couple of years. As heavy as they are on tradition, they are even more concerned on winning.
In fact, Ducati as a brand needs to win something soon. MotoGP is close but that doesn't cut it when your racing pedigree is that good, especially with superbikes.
It's unfortunate that Davide cannot match the pace of Chaz, because he needs a teammate to bring the fight to Kawas more often.

Will be watching the races tonight, but great job by Chaz!

Chaz takes race two. I bet he feels better than he did a couple of weeks ago. Giugliano is not getting the most out of the Panigale.

Aragon showed how inadequate the CBR1000's are...I doubt Honda will be updating that bike for 2017. Really disappointing though since Van der Mark is trying to pull out every last bit from that bike, maybe to his detriment. At least he finished today's race, while Nicky retired with some mechanical issue. Haven't seen what it was. I wonder if he is already wondering why he agreed to ride the Honda...would have loved to seen him on that Ducati in place of Giugliano.

I was about to say the same thing. Nicky to Ducati in 2018?

Great post btw.

I can't believe Brookes is so low down, he's on a Beemer for christs sake and it's not like he's a bad rider, he took a Yamaha to the BSB title last year.

The BMWs are not that good. Their great road bike manners haven't translated to wsbk success yet.

So what caused the mechanical for Nicky? I can't seem to find a solid explanation.

Best thing I can find is this...

After the race, Kentuckian didn’t mince words. “It was a bad day,” he said. “There is not much else to say. Everything that could have gone wrong did go wrong. On the sighting lap, we started having some problems and on the warm-up lap, again, I could feel something was still not right.

“We had a big vibration at the front end, and I could not get my bike stopped. I tried to stay out to salvage some points, but there was not much I could do. Eventually, it got worse, so I chose not to take any unnecessary risks and pulled out of the race.”

Brake issue?

I genuinely don't know if Nicky makes it to the 2018 season. I'm afraid he is going to get soured on the Honda experience and might not stick around. Or he'll continue to buy into Honda's BS.
