Would the introduction of a seamless gearbox to the Yamaha make them unbeatable?

Succinct as usual.

Answer: same reason as M. Dub; his interest in MGP is only loosely tangenital to his interest in

seeing how many strangers he can anonymously annoy from the safety of his mother's basement.

His knowledge of racing is at best superficial and he possesses little or no insight into the sport.

Again....Judging, chiding, and admonishing

Mdub was a pretty ...... funny guy. I can say probabaly the funniest guy in PS history. I dont think many people would dispute that. This place is not better off without him.

But MDub didnt fit your stepford wife version of what a poster should be so your still slagging him off months after he left.

You even like Povol better because its a neutered version of himself. I like old redneck Povol just fine. Hes got fire and passion and takes .... from nobody. I like Lex Luther just fine as well no matter how maniacal he is or was. Roger was another one. Ive read some of his posts on another site lately and they are just as good or better then anything on here. These guys are and were the flavor of Powerslide. Most of everything else is vanilla.

Interesting you think the forum is at its Golden Age because just recently I had this conversation with xxxxxx about how incredibly dull its become. xxxxxx was in agreement. Jumkies prodding of Krop is great .... and Krops posts have been raised a notch because of it but other then that its a whole lot of mediocrity

Thank you JKD for standing up for the things that are right in life.

Hahha.

Do you even know what JKD is referring to with that term? You so obviously read his post and ran off to repeat what you thought was a JKD gem, yet sadly all it has done is reinforce your buffoonery.

Buffoon.

JKD, as you may no I'm not too keen on censorship and moderator interference. I think I've been one of the most vocal protesters against such things on PS.

With this in mind, consider the following.

PS is in some sense a community. It's not always a bad thing to explicate social norms1 to members, especially since they are just that: norms, not laws. No one here (excluding, of course, ben, woodcote and duc) has the power to intervene in any other way. The worst that can happen is that people will eventually be ignored. The downside may be that some posters feel unloved and eventually stop posting.

The upside is that those that stick around learn to grow a thick skin and learn to contribute things that are considered here to be of added value2. There is a constant influx of new (often young) posters here, who frequently end up getting into a war of words very quickly, then declaring PS to be a hostile enviroment. These kids tend to dissapear quickly. This is a good thing. Because the alternative is that this place turns into crash.net, where any debate is drowned out by a great mob easily agitated teens that have few sensible things to say.  The upshot of this is exactly what I, and I think you too, do not want: exessive moderation and censorship.

PS functions remarkebly well in that sense, I've often been amazed at how well problems get solved through nothing but social incentives. An example from personal experience, a while back someone posted an extremely .... picture (with no bad intend). As I regularly visit PS from work, that sort of thing is nuisance to me. So I asked him kindly to remove it for this reason, and it was gone within minutes. No woodcote modrage needed. I know of other, better examples, but they pertain to exchanges of others, so I don't want to explicitly refer to them.

I suppose some of these things may reek of conformity and control to you and you'll probably won't like that. But I'd argue that no community can or will exist without some degree of these things, not even a digital one.

1 Which are unavoidable in any community, and which are not stipulated by any particular (group of) posters.

2 Of course, I'm not the judge of what exactly consitutes valuable content. Nor is any other individual poster.

Typical... you favor the qualities in people that are not about racing. What transpires between Jum and Krop is all in good fun. Not the same as the childish vitriol-based pratttle you engage in. And.... this may come as a shock to you, they actually discuss <u>racing.</u>

Oh... and of course you NEVER judge, admonish or chide (Did you find a Thesaurus stuck between the couch cushions?)

+1 Stief!! An academic dissection of an internet forum!

There are no piers to PS in the english language MGPverse that I know of. It is unique and rare and seems to function very much as a community/family, with all the inherent ups and downs of the same.

I've just finished reading this thread from post #1 again... I really can't figure out what sent the Whammy-bar into full wha-wha-wha mode. Hopefully he'll move on and pick up where he left off before his melt down.

BTW MDub's not gone, gone, is he?

Gone? I doubt it. He's probably found some poor girl to have ... with him again, and he's making up for lost time. He'll be back when he runs out of roofies.

I'm not a big pill guy (preferring plant and fungal materials), but, the xxxxxxpam families can be quite enjoyable, especially with a bottle or two of nice red wine... And kids remember: .... yourself up all you want but never dose an unaware other. Roofie .... is wrong in sooooo many ways.

wtf is a roofie?!

heard that too many times now, made up hollywood drug or some real ....?

It's a real thing. Drop one in your date's drink and she's unconscious or at best a zombie.

Known as the "date ...." drug. Potentially dangerous depending on the victims level of

alcohol and her tolerance for drugs.
