Yep Just announced today.

With only 4 races completed by frustrated Aussie racer Mark Webber, due to numerous failures on the Cosworth powered Williams car,

The Williams team have decided to issue him with his P45 at the end of the season.

They have also confirmed that 3rd driver Alex Wurz will line up alongside Nico Rosberg for the 2007 season.

However there is a possible lifesaver for Webber, who is managed by Renault Boss Flavio Briatore, and with a vacant Renaualt seat available for next season after Alonso heads for Maclaren...who knows????

I hope he gets it, cos most of the cars he has ever driven have been ......

Minardi, Jaguar, then Williams( in the crap years) he deserves a chance like every racer to show what they got. you never know. webber might not have the skills to race in F1 after all. you never know.

thats what they're saying. me thinks he wont be racing F1 next season though

JV is a good guy. i am porbabaly only fan, but if i was him i would move to another series because he still has maybe 10 years left. go to nascar. go to Forsythe in the Champ Car/IRL series in '08 or do something crazy like move to BMW's Moto GP team(If they come).

<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE <div class='quotemain'>Williams sign Wurz and Rosberg for '07.

WilliamsF1 has confirmed that it has concluded its driver line-up for the 2007 season and has promoted third driver, Alexander Wurz to partner Nico Rosberg – something that means Mark Webber will be off to pastures new.

Speaking following the contract confirmations, Williams team boss, Sir Frank Williams was quick to defend the decision to opt for Wurz, despite the fact he hasn't raced full-time since 2000, when he was with Benetton.

"2006 has been a pretty tough season so far and all three of our drivers have proved to be enormously resilient and committed. However, we are seeing the beginnings of a performance upswing which we are determined to maintain," he commented. "Together with our recent announcement regarding our Toyota engine partnership, we are starting to put in place some of the cornerstones of a competitive team for the rest of this season and into the future.

"Alex brings us important technical continuity and understanding of the car and as well as being an excellent communicator with our engineers, he is ultra competitive during the Friday 'full tank' practice sessions. Alex will be a great racing driver for us as he is one of the few men I have seen in a wheel banging confrontation with Michael Schumacher and come out on top!

"Retaining Nico for next year was not a tough decision. He has shown great promise so far in his debut season and I know he will build on this with every race."

Williams meanwhile wished Webber well for the future and although there is no word on where he will end up in 2007, Renault must be the best bet, as the Aussie is managed by Renault team boss, Flavio Briatore and the regie have yet to make public who will partner Giancarlo Fisichella and replace the McLaren-Mercedes bound Fernando Alonso.

"As much as taking great pleasure in confirming Alex and Nico for next season, I must also commend Mark Webber for his contribution to the team over the past two seasons as he has been a credit to himself and Williams and has never let up in his pursuit of competitive success," added Sir Frank. "I know Mark will give his all until the end of the season and we wish him well in his future arrangements."

That was expected, since the moment Wurz left MCLAREN for WILLIAMS it was obvious that Wurz would be getting a seat next year because no one is so stupid to leave a top team for a mid-field team like Williams.

The surprising part is that Williams prefered Rosberg over Webber, when Webber has been MUCH better, maybe it wasn't Williams choice, maybe Webber already has signed for another team with more resources.

He's a very good driver, infact I think he's better than Jenson Button. He deserves a chance!

<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE <div class='quotemain'>Webber confident of 2007 race seat

Australian Mark Webber is confident he will find a new Formula One drive next season, despite being replaced at Williams by Austrian Alexander Wurz for 2007.

"Everything's under control," he told a Hungarian Grand Prix news conference on Thursday.

"Obviously Flavio's looking after things at the moment.

We've got a few plates spinning out there and we'll see how they come down."

The highly-rated 29-year-old driver is managed by Renault team boss

Flavio Briatore, who is currently looking for a replacement for departing world champion Fernando Alonso.

Webber would be favourite for that seat if the world champions fail to secure Kimi Raikkonen from McLaren. The Finn is expected by most paddock insiders to move to Ferrari, either as Michael Schumacher's team mate or replacement.

The Australian has also been linked to Red Bull and, less plausibly, McLaren. He hinted that an offer was on the table and said he was comfortable with his position.

"It would be silly to walk away from Williams and not have anything, wouldn't it?" he said. "I am very, very relaxed. I'll be here next year.

"People might think it's a bit of a risk for us to leave the team but Flavio has rarely been wrong in his decisions," he added.

"I'm confident we can get something better, otherwise I would have stayed there (at Williams) wouldn't I?"

Williams announced on Wednesday that test driver Wurz would be replacing Webber for 2007 alongside Germany's Nico Rosberg.

The British-based team had an option on Webber for the next two years but decided not to take it up by the end of July

deadline.

"They weren't in a position to do that," said Webber, hinting that the increased pay package that went with the option was the sticking point for an independent team operating on a tight budget.

"We agreed that we would try to make it work even if they couldn't have come to an agreement with the original terms in place -- we would try and stay there and work a new deal.

"Still we couldn't (do a deal) and in the end Flavio said, 'okay let's go onto the market."

Webber... where have I heard that name...... he`s from the Motherland, ain`t he? Oh that`s right, he`s in F1. Silly man, the only way an Aussie can get to the top in international motorsport is through WSBK, or being somthing freaky talented like Doohan or Gardiner

I've read a few interviews and he seems pretty confident he'll have something worked out. Is it possible that Flavio will get/give him a Renault ride?

Kimi hasn't won a championship yet, and I doubt he will win it if he is teammate to Schumacher or Alonso.

I've made a thread on it, and they didn't drop him he walked from them.
He's still racing for them atthe moment too!
