yeah but Ducati did it after they put it on the grid, so it was a replica of the currently racing bike, if they bulid the replica before the bike is put on the grid, its a bit more complicated, isnt it. They could very easily be accused of using replica parts in the prototype if it ever made the grid.

yes it is! could be accused of using "production" parts if it's out before they track it.
 
Is there a reason for the strict prototye rules? I mean, there might be a very good reason, but to me it just looks like its making things more and more expensive and unaffordable.
