Who will win the three major SBK titles in 2006?

I've got to go with Troy Bayliss, Ben Bostrom and Shakey Byrne.

I don't follow AMA really, (Can't get nuffin here) But what makes you think Mat Mladin's gonna lose?

I've just got a funny feeling about Ben. He was fastest throughout the entire Daytona test (Given it was sans Mat Mladin) until the end of the days when Spies would throw on a sticky and grab a tenth or two but besides that he has been instantly quick on the 999R. I was reading this pole from www.superbikeplanet.com and something in my head clicked. The peyote fueled Bostrom finds the answer and beats Mladin. It was so crazy that it makes sense to me. It seems to me that Ben is one of those guys where if his heads not right then you wonder why on earth does he have a factory ride? But then he chills out and gets in the right environment (American Honda 1998, Vance & Hines Ducati 1999, NCR Ducati 2000, L & M Ducati 2001) and he's blindingly fast. The last time Ben felt comfortable on a Ducati he took third in WSB points, he says he feels comfortable on the 999 and I haven't heard him use that word without "un" preceeding it in a long time. It's Mladin's title to lose and there is a lot of stiff competition in the series but it just seems like things are poitining in the direction of a good year for B Boz.

On a side note Ben and brother Eric have teamed up in the off season to launch their own company. Boz Exhaust Systems. As of now their website is not up and running and the interviews with Ben have revealed very little but it sounds like it's a cool little operation. Check it out at www.bozexhaust.com

Ive gone with Bayliss, Mladin and Kiyonari.

All pretty much sensible votes, i think bayliss will have the speed and mental strength over his opponents.

Mladin cos i cant follow ama and hes been no1 for ages,

and kiyonari because although shakey is ex champ, kiyonari has the might of hrc behind him and i bet he wants revenge. plus he is like a machine. my heart does say shakey though!

My picks:

Walker: I could have chosen any of the Kawa riders, but Walker has already achieved decent results with the Kawa.

Mladin: I know nothing about US national championship so I'll just vote for the champion.

Lavilla: SPANIARDS RULE !

Ooost ur faith in bostrom is wasted. it'll be mladin... again. i think kiyo for bsb... if he don't get hurt. & baylistic in wsbk. although i'd like to see haga win

As I said before I feel like things are just lining up for Ben and he's going to have one of his years where things go right. There is an excellent interview with Ben courtesy of www.superbikeplanet.com, check it out here.

i would love to see this happen. just like i'd like someone to beat rossi for the championship... but i don't think they'll happen!

I dont WANT Rossi to lose, He's a top guy.... But it would be very intresting if he did.

Walker, teo? It'd be nice, but then again it would be nice if Nakano won, too, you know?

Ok, well I don't think Alistare Suzuki can do it again. I think their 4-rider stong team, with Biaggi straight from a factory motoGP team is more of a panicked rush to win the title by flooding the grid. They caught Ten Kate and the Dukes off guard last year. Two groups who take SBK very seriously. They won't make that mistake again. Ten Kate had a strong chance with CV, but Suzuki plucked him out of WSBK. Theyre still one of the most professional teams in SBK, and all motorsport for that matter. Theyre the sorta guys a rider would want backing him up if he was chasing a title. Things just didn't go their way last year, got off to a slow start that eventually cost the championship.
Ducati clearly want their championship back, with promising young gun Lanzi and experienced former champion Bayliss on factory 999R's. It's looking to be yet another Ducati year, but anything's possible.
Yamaha are putting a lot of effort in both WSBK and WSS, with the new built-to-race R6, and experienced and competitive Aussies Curtain and Parkes riding them, and the R1-SP Limited edition Superbike, piloted by Nitro Nori, with his "Win or die trying" riding style and Teamate Pitt, who is more placid and consistent for top 10 finishes. Plus, with their new YEC, clearly aimed at repilcating HRC, and Rossi on their M1 in motoGP, Yamaha are launching a serious assult on the world's largest motorcycle company in terms of racing pedigree.
PSG-1 have, in my opinon, the best (stock) bike in the feild. But they lack the funding to compete with teams like Ten Kate. Walker will do well though.

I totally agree with you Ron and picked the same.

Might be worthwhile placing some bets

Kawasaki have stated today that they are going to give the PSG1 team full backing this season and will run in the official green. Also Walker has a combined test alongside the MGP team shortly.Nice to see Kawasaki putting their full weight behind the teams, could open the MGP door for Walker again, good luck Chris.

That's great news, Drill. Can't wait to see PSG-1 up there with Ten Kate, Alistare, Xerox Ducati and Yamaha Motor Italia.
