Did Donnington last year and now want to go outside Europe for a trip but not sure whether to go to Qatar or Laguna or another GP. Going as 2 couples and want to stay for few days either side of the GP?
Has anyone been outside Europe 2009 to help us decide?

Hi, how are you? Oh, I'm doing fine, thanks for asking.

What are you looking for? If you want an awesome legendary proper GP track with alot of sunshine and activities, then go to Laguna. If you want a fair track, risk a wet race, but see riders in paddock up close go VIP at a decent price and mix in a flat track event, come to Indy.

It depends what you want in a GP.

(leav it to a blonde to miss the point)

Thank you Jumkie and friends, we are not sure exactly what we are after and wanted the pros and cons of going to a track outside Europe without going to Oz or Japan for a 5/7 day trip.
Laguna
Indy
Qatar?

I will see how they stack up price wise?

its the internet ffs, no need for introductions. lets just cut to the point. thought we all agreed that rules that count in normal civilization dont count in virtual places
<

going to qatar would be special too, its still a night race, right? might be worth considering

seems like dazzler wont/cant take too much time for the gp weekend so that pretty much rules out PI or motegi, sepang etc. Qatar would be a very viable option imo, Laguna or indy with Jumkie.Inc
will need more than 3 days..

BAAAAAAAARRRRY!!!!!!!!!!!!! AT LAST!!!!!!! IT"S TAKEN SOOOOOO LONG!!!! -

..but I finally agree with you.

I would say Laguna hands down. I don't necessarily regard it as the best circuit on the calendar, but to visit, as a race weekend and beyond it's unparalleled. AND, you're in California, one of my favourite places on planet earth!!!!

yeah I know

pretty much why I never go to GP's there. That and the fact thatthe TV coverageseems more real to me than being in the spectator stands.

But hey it could be far worse! imagine if there was too many pomms, yanks, italians, Spanishetc.!!!

Hi Burks, fancy seeing u here buddy. How u been?

Qatar.

Don't listen to what anyone says. I've been to them all. Qatar is the BEST. You get to see camels running across the track while the race is on.

If you're going to hang out for a few days before and after the race, Laguna must be one of the best choices. You've got San Francisco (avoid Fisherman's Wharf, it's a ghastly touron trap!), the Carmel/Big Sur coast (highway 1), etc. close by. Yosemite National Park is only a four hour drive to the east.

What are you gonna do in Qatar?

J708 just answered the question!)

Got to admit that S. Australia looks like a cool place too.

Geo. There is alot to do in qatar. Here is a list

-fill up ur tank for 10 dollars. Yes. 10 USD for a sedan
-Cruise to nowhere and go in endless circles, when u get lost. just make a left or right turn and ur back on track
- see more dodge vipers in one car park more than u'll ever see in any country in one year
-cruise some more,,,, to no destination
- soak up the sun every single day of the year
<
yes. even in april
- time to fill up ur tank for piss cheap
- see people driving like they're in a rat race competition
- watch the NUMBER ONE motogp night race
<
(like there are anymore night race options)
- see a bentley, ferrari, phantom and any super/luxurious car you can think off several times a day that ur sick of them
<

The camel part was a joke
<

Dude!
I just realized - you LIVE THERE!

The way you rip off all those reasons, the Tourism Board ought to hire you ASAP!
<

(The night race thing does look pretty cool.)
