Recently a friend an I were sitting down over lunch fantasizing about this years superbikes and sport bikes... which do you all want to ride? I couldn't narrow it down to just 10, So I collected all the ones I thought were worthy of consideration.

Reply with your thoughts, if you could only pick 9, what would you pick to see sitting in a garage knowing you could ride anyone, imagine that!

If I've missed any, feel free to add your suggestions, but I think I did alright. And don't worry bout the pocketbook, pretend you're Jay Leno

I would love to try the BMW S1000RR
The reviews says that it is "Uncrashable"
[/qu Which will ultimately lead to many a squids death. The idiots already think they are bullet proof. Stick them on a bike with 182 rear hp and tell them it cant be crashed and watch the carnage ensue.

lol, good pick! Povol might have a point though, but that doesn't stop me from wishing I could just hop on one for a few days.

No kidding!
The Tree of Shame eagerly awaits the bountiful feast of twisted wreckage!

Strangely enough most sport bikes have the same amount of appeal to me. They're all pretty damn
good and I don't have an overwhelming urge to ride any particular one. The 1986 Gixxer 1000 would be pretty cool not because it's the greatest bike but it was the bike that filled my thoughts every waking moment as a teenager and I never got to ride one. I would also like to ride a ducati because I've never felt the power of anything other than an inline but my absolute dream my entire life is to be able to ride a 250 2 stroke dirt bike. I've never had the opportunity and with the 4 strokers taking over the market I'm afraid I might never get the chance. Pretty sad actually. All I need is 5 minutes and an open field and I'm sure it will give me the smile of a lifetime.

This.

At 40 I'm just so over the hunched sportsbike routine, and I tend to ride longer distances so I want my back and wrists to survive.

I just want it to go like a sportsbike....

yes it will give you that smile. there are other things out there that can out accelerate, out-handle and out-perform a 250 MX'er BUT nothing is the same and its a must do experience.

that being said, i would like to try the KTM RC8 and the aprilia RSV4

I've learned if you can't afford it, don't ride it. A $5k YETI mountain bike and my friends 1098 come quickly to mind and will never leave it.

I also don't care for big HP for street use, and so I'd love to try a new 1100 air cooled duc. The new monsters finally look finished from the factory. I'd even try the 696.

The handling on the S1000RR is supposed to be out of this world, I'd like to throw a leg over one of those. I'd like to feel how strong the engine in the RSV4 is and how physically small it is. I've wanted to try the cross-plane R1 since it's introduction. The RC8 intrigues me, as does anything by Bimota. And no list would be complete without the current Ducati SBK, so I suppose I'd like to try a 1098R.

True, that's why it was hard to pick for myself. I'm fairly new and inexperienced to the industry and riding, I just know I like 'em! There's definite appeal to dirtbiking though. I wish I could go back in time and slap my 12 year old self in the face and say "DON'T BE SUCH A .....! NOW GO CONQUER THAT '78 125cc KAWASAKI!!"... But the path I travelled wasn't that bad either. Got me where I am.

You gotta clarify, Andy, you talking bout her or the multistrada cause I think both would be really fun lol

Good pics, Al... The RC8 sounds built to incredible standards.. but I'm sure most of the bikes are.

lol.. tell us those stories...

So I take it you like the list... Right on!

Personally, at the end of the price list, are the Triumph and the Buell. My buddy owns a buell street bike and it looks really fun and easy to ride.. The triumph, not a big fan of the look, but they make good bikes so I'm sure it's still great.

too true.. too true.. but it doesn't HAVE to be a dream, hahah! and your sig, great motto... I'm recovering from a broken shoulder right now because after a 7 year absence from snowboarding, i'm right back at it, and riding harder and faster than as a teenager, I can't wait to be healed so i can get back out there.

I think we are playing notes from the same page, dude... great list...!

oh and here's a pic of my baby down in the parkade, i have no good ones from the fall cause I bought it so late and rode solo so often so no pics of me on 'er... This year though, PLENTY as I travel for 3 months around north America!!!!

She's a bit dusty cause of all the mine vehicles that use my parkade but i keep it tarped.. some how the dust still circulates underneath. I take it off only to run it around a bit to keep the battery from drying out.

I had a 1983 model of one of these in the same colour scheme, but I've never seen them in anything other come to think of it. I also had the Yamaha DT 125 which had been bored out to 175cc which I loved, but the PE was far more entertaining. I remember a friend of mine using the PE to teach his girlfriend how to pull off on a bike and before we could say anything she pinned the throttle, dumped the clutch and landed on her head - the bike took off - never touched the ground.

Rarely insured it for the road, but there was a brief period when I had to ride it to work, and I'd taken it in to a Suzuki dealer called 'Castledines' for a minor repair. Later that day I was driving through town and some guy on an identical Suzuki pulled up next to me at the lights. I leaned out of the car to congratulate him on his excellent choice of bike - only to realise it was rather too familiar. Jumped out of the car to grab him, and he leapt off dropped it in the road and ran off into a shopping centre. The lights changed and I was left with two stricken vehicles and a queue of irate motorists behind me. Left the car, picked up the zook and rode it back helmetless to the dealer who admitted they'd left it out in the yard for five minutes with the key intending to wash it. It's a dirt bike I'm a teenager - I didn't want it washing!!

Who the .... goes out with a helmet in their hand hoping to stumble on a bike with the keys in the ignition that they can aimlessly joyride around town on?? I never found out
