Hey guys, I found your website through someone and decided to register even though you guys still have a small member base. I've been watching MotoGP along with WSB and AMA racing for a couple years now (since they went to the 990cc engines) and absolutley love it. I've never missed a race (thanks to DVR
<
) and was fortunate enough to attend the first MotoGP race since it came back to the US in 10 years. THAT was a blast...I met all the Moto GP racers, who are a lot smaller in real life lol...I couldn't get over how small Melandri is...Biaggi and Gibernau are also a lot smaller than I thought. I also got to shake Nickys hand and congratulate right after he won the race while he was on his way to the press conference. There were always mobs around Rossi - my freakin hero - but I saw him too and had the best weekend of the entire year that weekend. I was walking around the track with a broken femur from a track accident last year and as painfula as it was, it was worth it.

I got my leg rebroken a week later since it had healed wrong and now I'm just sittin at home waiting for it to heal. I was in a pretty ...... crash at the track last year and broke my leg, arm, shoulder, t4 and t5 vertebre, and ribs. I also got a nasty concussion which gave me short term memory loss problems for a week. So I've given up riding for a while..until my body fully heals and I mature up a bit.I don't know when I'll start riding again, but I see it like this - I'm alive for another 60 years or so, and at SOME point in my life I'll get back on one. Riding and roadracing is the only thing ive ever had a real passion for in my life so I'll be into it for a long time
<

Anyway, I'm done..painkillers make me talk a lot and Futurama is on now so bye!

I was riding an 03 Honda 600RR on a normal trackday and I wasn't actually in a race...I don't remember what happend and nobody else saw what happend, but for some reason I stood my bike up in the middle of a 100mph turn I had taken hundereds of time (and I was actually riding a bit slower than normal that day) and ended up highsiding. It happend 7/26/04 and everything else has fully healed...I still get pain/aches in my arm and shoulder and back..especially when the weather gets cold but ive come a long way. Anyway, I just got my leg rebroken on the 18th of July because the bone wasn't fusing together and it was rotated off by 14 degrees. It will take 4-6 months to heal and another year to fully heal...so im still lookin at a year or so

<

Have fun!

Hey Frong,

Another Yank i see, well thats good as i love the US (even tho ive never been!) Im from England.

Thanks for the GP pics, their really good, you must have been thrilled to meet all those guys, i know i would.

Sorry to hear about your crash although its good that your recovering. I have ridden before but have never owned a bike of my own, a couple of scooter crashes put me off getting a real bike on the road and so i stick to my car(which i also probably drive too fast! lol), i already admire you for getting out on track, and for not packing it in because of your crash. Can i ask if it bothers you that you dont know why you crashed? Anyway, Great pics of Laguna AND of you getting your knee down on your all black RR
<
, and welcome to the best motogp forum!
<

Ps. you ever ridden at Laguna? do they do trackdays there?

Hey there Fr0ng, welcome to the site. I too was at the Red Bull USGP, absolutely amazing. Those are some nice shots from the paddock. Sorry to hear about your leg, I had an operation on my leg last spring to plate it and throw some screws in there after a football (European) accident. Hoping for a speedy recovery for you. Where do you do your track days? The RR looks trick, I like the black paint scheme. Also, nice work in all your riding gear, I'm a big Alpinestars supporter. If you don't mind me asking, how'd they hold up in the crash?

Welcome to the board. Sorry to hear about your accident.

At least you have a good story to tell about it.

Hey man, it TOTALLY bothers me that I don't remember. I've ridden that track a dozen times and have taken that same turn SO many times..much faster even. That day I was just playing around with my suspension and getting used to a new brand of tire (switched from Michelin to Dunlop) and wasn't even riding up to my normal pace. It's so frustrating because this event put me out for years and I don't even know why...I don't know if I'll ever remember either and that really, really makes me annoyed.

I can only guess as to what happend and here are a couple scenarios I've come up with.

I was trying to pass a buddy on the outside of the turn and his rear tire slipped (he told me later that at that turn at that time he had a fat rear tire slide) and I stood my bike up to avoid crashing into him and ran off the track

or

I was just having a bad day and missed my turn point and ran off the track

I think the first scenario makes more sense because I was a faster rider than this friend of mine and would have tried to pass him on the outside of the turn, but Ill never know for sure

Also, I was born in Chester, England and moved out to California with my parents (Who are originally from Iran and moved there when they were 17 for school) when I was 5 months old. I want to go back and see where I was born, and travel the rest of Europe in a year or two when I'm able to walk normally

Glad you could make to the GP..it was awesome for sure. The A gear help up great. Everything did its job and there were no rips in anything...from the 1 peice to the gloves to the boots. Then they cut my leathers off me before getting me flown out to a hospital
<

I've heard of some people complaining about the quality of A gear but I've never had issues with mine. Here is a picture of my boots after the crash..I was trying to sell them

Yes, that is me! Even people like Doug Chandler had heard about my accident and he knew who I was when I was introduced to him.
<

But here is the full story, as I imagine it has been changed around a lot..

I crashed and none of the cornerworkers saw the crash. My track buddy was looking for me at the end of the session but could not find me and after about 20 minutes he told the organizers that I was missing. They shut down the track and started looking for me and finally found me 30-45 minutes after I had crashed. So I was pretty much baking in 100F+ degree weather in full lethers with a fat concussion, being in shock and a bunch of broken bones for that amount of time. I kept slipping in and out of consiousness during the whole thing, but luckily I remember none of it...well actually, I do remember being found by one of the organizers...and probably remember about 30 seconds of the entire thing. Since my crash they have modified the track and added more cornerworkers to make sure a freak accident like mine never happens again.

The reason nobody was able to find me at first was because I had run off way out into the field into some tall grassy area behind a small hill so it was hard to see.
