He could flunc totally this season and still all the teams (maybe except HRC) would hunt for him. His marketing value alone is worth a good part of his sallary, even before he ride the bike.
He's allready got more money than he can spend in a lifetime or two so he don't need the security a longer contract can give him, but a in a new development cycle he might agree to a longer contract for a team/factory that want the assurance that he still is around after the first year when anything can happen before they are willing to spend the money on development.

Actually I would love to see hem go to Ducati and take the title home on the third (forth) factory bike. What a national frenzy that would create in Italy

I would like to see this as well. He would be so big in Italy that he would never be allowed to step foot in Italy couse the crowds would carry him everywhere.
Maybe he would like to come to the States. Most people here only care about cars going in circles or strait.

I don't reckon he will go to ducati, coz after terrible start he's had to this season, (even if he does- and he will be sure of it, recover , or yamaha more to the point recover entirely) people will think he is a quitter, and we know rossi isnt, he will want to prove that the bike and him are as good as always, and by going to duc he may be seen to be running away from it

im sure that after having seen what happened in les mans, all the other riders will be aware that rossi is back on form just about, and like u say, havent seen him that aggressive for while, so i reckon the doc will take his 8th, just have this feeling, and as dani pedrosa said, he is the best, and hes been 7 tmes world champ for a reason

I feel Rossi will finish his career at the end of the session. And i think rossi never goes to Ducati. Ducati need a good pilot but i thnk this pilot is not Rossi.
I want to watch rossi with ducati but may be we will not watch Rossi next session ((((

( Rossi can resign from Yamaha . If you watch Le Mans, We saw Rossi was entered the truck. None of pilots never do this. ( Maybe on an attention. ) But this problems are not technical problems. This problems private with Yamaha. )
