Somebody is watching. Hope he rings its neck

Fantastic opportunity, maybe he'll fill in for the injured Jacque if he cant ride at Donny.. Either way, Hopper and West @ Kawasaki in 08, dream team!

Wow, I never expected that of all people!

I don't think he'll make it up to GP's though, it's a bit of a big step for him.

I for one want him in WSS!

This is a very good opportunity for Westy, and his chance to prove his worth. I don't particularly rate him (as you know), but sometimes the 250 privateers end up to be holding something special on big bikes so good luck to him. If he can perform throughout the weekend above or equal to how Fonsi Nieto did at Le Mans he can use that as a selling point to teams in the future be it in motogp or world superbikes.

That's surprising I guess his WSS win didn't go unnoticed, but I would have expected that to give oportunities in WSS and WSBK, not MotoGP.

Anyway good luck to him, but I don't think he'll be in Kawa next year. IMO Randy will stay and Jaque will be substituted by someone like Hopkins or Elías.

Could experience on a 600 SS bike transfer well to the 800s? They're smaller than SBKs and riders often say that 600s require smooth, fast cornering in order to make up for the relative lack of power and torque. A Road Racer X editor column a while back suggested that the modified 600s that dominate AMA Formula Extreme could be the type of bike for Moto GP hopefuls to train on (small, adjustable, etc.).

Yer pretty much as fast as Pitt (who is on thefactory Yamaha with Michelins) give him another day on the thing and he'll be up even higher..

Don't mean to take away West's thunder, he's starting to show what he's made of..... but Michelins isn't a good thing anymore man

They seemed to do ok in the race at Catalunya, 2nd and 3rd?

Just read the interview on motogp.com. He reckoned it wasnt too bad, a lot easier than his 250. Unless he gets the ride for Donington thats it for West in GP's for now.

Supersport is the go

I actually watched the interview, he was well chuffed, said it was 'wild' .. Said that down the straight it felt like your arms were about to tear off.. Hah, and yep, hes with Yamaha Germany WSS for the rest of the year now. Hes officially severed all ties with Team Sicilia (a good thing.) If he can get a few rides on the Kwak this year and keep up the good supersport results, a kwak GP ride in 08 isnt completely out of the question..

I wonder if they will bring him back for any of the GP's this year. Hes got a top class ride now in SS and should concentrate on securing that for next year and building toward a Superbike ride in 09.

It'd be great to see him on the Kawasaki but I think they will go for someone with a lot more experience, even if they are crap. He'd just have to finish to outperform OJ.

But look at most race results. You get the odd Michelin rider like Pedrosa and Rossi, but they're obvioulsy some of the faster guys full stop. The top ten is usually dominated by 'stones these days. It's true that most of the grid uses Bridgestones now, but I belive that the reason for thier success is that the tyre rule has ...... Michelin, and that Bridgestone is the rubber to wear this year.

I think for any guy to jump on a GP bike, on tyres he's not used to, and the very first time he sees the thing, he's lapping just about within a second of the pace at the front during the previous day's race, is pretty frigging impressive.

I'm leaning towards agreeing with skidmark there...were only 6 riders out today so didn't get to see his times after 2 days unfortunately.

This is one theory, but how about thinking about the fact that the Bridgestone are the majority supplier now, and Honda are struggling this year eliminating most Michelin runners. The other significant Michelin is Edwards, and hes .....

Did anyone really expect Nakano, Checa and Roberts to be up front before the season started?

Oh, back on topic. I read a rumor that Westy will ride for Jacque in Donny. Come on you English weather, I know you can be a ...... Open up with all your fury so Ant can win by a mile and give everyone a big http://www.motogpforum.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/.....gif and head back to WSS.

If West does ride at donnington I'd love it to rain. Would love to see who's actually better:
