Hi guys,

I've been to Laguna this year and it was awesome! One good thing is that MotoGP isn't that popular in the states and you can get Paddock Passes for only 50 bucks. So if you have the chance to go there, GO!

I wonder where I will go next year and I'm thinking about testing the VIP village stuff in Europe. Maybe Sachsenring or Spain/Italy. Has anyone done it so far, how was it? How does it work with the Paddock? I've seen different information on the web. The offer guided tours, I think once a day. Another site said that you can access the paddock the whole day. So has anyone an idea how it works?

Thanks,

Sina

First rule: no smaller men, please (are you taller than 1.80 cm?)?

Second rule: no guys from the UK (at least that should work)! :)))

You paid 50 bucks for paddock passes you got ripped.

Last year I got off the bus from the campsite and for 2 days noone even asked me for a entry ticket.
How close did I get to the paddock.?

hey sina glad u had such a good time! i did the vip village at assen a couple of years ago. u get the pit lane tour once sat & once sunday. paddock tours the same. good parking good food other ammenities
<
the all day paddock access is a laguna thing.

hey sina,

i wasn't in the vip-viilage itself, but i was in the paddock at the sachsenring, so i think i can tell you a bit.

first of all: the vip-tickets for the sachsenring are veeery expensive. but you have some nice rooms and food all day if that's what you want.
<

anyway, there is a paddock-tour included which means walking in front of the boxes in a group when there are no riders around anymore...

but, as far as i've seen it you can also walk around in the paddock (behind the boxes in p2 and in padock 1 and 3 where the trucks and hospitalities are) and see some things there. if you're lucky you can see a lot in the paddock, but when you stay in the vip-village all day you probably won't see anything except the usual view on the track, because the village is right above the boxes. only advantage i've seen is the closeness to the podium - nicky hayden succesfully made some people from the vip village wet with champagne
<
- and a better look on the display zone. that's it. in my opinion not much for a few hundred bucks...

better try to get a normal paddock pass on other ways, you see more.

i'm utterly speechless and overly jealous

Thanks for the answers guys.

Yeah, I know, you got in there without a paddock pass. You seem to be invisible. No chance to get in there without the pass this year....

One funny thing about Laguna is that the security seems to leave early. I went to the paddock at 7 pm, no security.

That was a good one lol. Only one simple question: HOW to get the stuff?? By the way where are you from? For me Sachsenring is also just around the corner....usually. I'm from Plauen. The world is a village, right?

yeah, the world is a village.

i currently live in leipzig, but soon in ohio. unfortunately there's no gp in the us while i'm there... sob

well, it actually seems to be easier than you would think to get a paddock pass for the sachsenring.

option nr.1: gridgirls. you're a girl, you have a good chance.
<
espescially the small teams often search for gridgirls until the last second.

option nr.2: befriend a gridgirl (i met a guy who did that) or any member from any team or from the track adminstration (met several people who did that). it's often the best chance.

option nr.3: win a ticket. this is what i did.
<

option nr.4: work there. as a medic, as a helper on the track, etc. requires to ask the officials early (about a year before i'd say), but you often have a great view then. (notice all the service guys with cameras next to the track or in the paddock)

good luck.

I live in Pennsylvania. I've been to Mid Ohio last week for the AMA championship. Ohio is a bit different than Leipzig, but I think you'll have fun here. It's the countryside, so you don't have very big cities out there, but it's also not crowded...lot of farms and stuff.

Ok, so I take option no. 1 :) No, just kidding. Yeah, let's see. I don't think it's that easy.

That's why I liked Laguna. They don't shut down everything. Sachsenring is a bit lame, I mean I have been there every year since 99, but Laguna was a bit an eyeopener. Not just the corkscrew :)

I will leave in October and probably go back to good old Germany.

But yeah, one week vacation in San Francisco+Laguna is also a good idea. Cali is worth a visit. Have been there 2 weeks ago, but only had 2 days for San Fran. It's a beautiful city, so maybe I come back next year. We'll see....
