Valentino to renew at Yamaha

ROssi: Close to renewing with Yamaha.
"The team has worked really well, I don't see why I should leave"
Having reached 90 career wins, and reached the top of the Motogp points sheet, Valentino Rossi is now one step away from renewing his contract with yamaha. This was revealed by the rider himself in an interview on Spain's TVE station during the program "motogp club".
"We are talking to Yamaha- he revealed - I asked them for a bike I could win on and they gave me what I asked for, so for me there are no reasons to leave. We still have to reach an agreement, but I think it's very possible i'll stay at Yamaha for another two years". There are other teams which would like to engage rossi's services, namely Kawasaki.
However today's Yamaha is perfectly satisfactory to the rider: "the YZR-M1 2008 is the best bike Yamaha has ever made-he continued- The 2005 bike was very good but no comparison to this one.I'm glad they have worked so well and that they've managed to improve so much in so little time".
Just like for a long while to come Rossi will still be riding bikes "I'm still hungry for wins and I think I'll race for a few more years yet, for as long as I can remain at the front."
Rossi's current contract with Yamaha runs out at the end of this year.

i think he should hold off for a bit, keep yamaha keen. they have worked hard it would be a shame if they settled down after he signed, start resting on there lorrels again. sign at laguna.

Yeah. Makes me wonder whether they were holding out on him last year, since they were assured of him on the team for this year, to make themselves look really good this year and ensure his renewal.
A bit too much conspiracy theory??

Actually 'my' team of commentators on italian telly- good many of them ex-racers themselves- were saying after Le Mans that Ducati should be putting everything they've got into signing Valentino up.
Irrespective of talent, natural or otherwise, achievements etc one thing the guy can undeniably do is get a team to really get their act together. True he makes big demands, but just like everything else, you have to pay what something is worth to get it. And somehow, they all seem to think he's worth a good deal. Wonder why huh?

Rossi on a Ducati....now that is something I would love to see....only problem is Vale would insist on making the bike Yellow! ugh!

I think ducati need a new chassis. I don't think even rossi can make the current one go fast around tight corners.

I think Ducati need something, but I don't think Stoner can develop that bike any more, he doesn't seem to have the experience, he can ride the bike ok but develop it no.
<

Perhaps he needs some help from the likes of Biaggi

Can you see a Big Red Sun surounding a Number 46 on a Yellow (light) side of the bike, and number 46 surround by by a moon on a black (Dark) side of the Ducati?

Even better though a self funded Rossi team with him as the only rider!

I wouldn't write them off just yet. Whilst I think casey's title defence hopes are pretty close to gone given the calibre of his opposition, I still think he could win races this year, and as I recall in 2006 even the mighty valentino and jb had set-up issues which persisted at least this long in the year immediately following a title win on the same make of bike. I think as others have said barros is the guy who could most likely be of help, but ducati appear to have terminally pissed him off as is their wont with many ex-riders.

I think he should not only hold out...BUT start his OWN privateer team.....Another Nastro Assuro bike would be killer....THEN he could have the option of useing any bike with any tire he wants....

Hmm Pre season 2004 i remember readnig somewhere Jeremy Mcwilliams saying "and valentinos not going to win on the Yamaha as much as the journalists would like to believe it" or something to that effect.Mind you he also mentioned Edwards has gone 30 seconds than Valentinos race time Phillip Island on the same bike so go figure

I don't see Rossi leaving Yamaha ever. Apparently JB considered retiring when Vale went to Yamaha, i doubt he'd change all over again. Would Rossi move somewhere without JB at this stage in his career?? I'd love to see it but i wont get my hopes up.
