Rossi Hospitalized, Released
by dean adams

How to simultaneously make the stomach drop of every Dorna person in existence? Just mutter these words: Valentino Rossi rushed to hospital.

The reigning MotoGP world champion and easily one of the major reasons millions follow MotoGP was rushed to an Italian hospital yesterday for symptoms of appendicitis.

Curiously, Rossi did not undergo an appendectomy but was instead sent home with a vial of antibiotics that are hoped to treat the condition.

This possibly suggests that Rossi's condition is a minor flare up of minor reoccurring appendicitis or there might be some question of an appendicitis diagnosis.

true I was worried for a second too

hope he feels well soon

Heh, if it were Stoner, you'd have the usual idiots making "..... with a tummy ache" accusations.

I'm sure he'll be fine. As P suggested, the Dorna Suits better keep a defibrillator handy!

Very true!

Going to the emergency room for appendicitis or suspected appendicitis is not wimpy. Not only is the pain extreme, but the possibility of a ruptured appendix needs attention!

This happened to me last September; it was horrible: throbbing, non-stop pain that almost brings you to tears. I did have a stomach virus once that mimicked the pain closely, although it did not last nearly as long.

Hopefully all Rossi had was a similar virus. If he has to have his appendix removed, it would probably put him out for several races.

I had my appendix removed. I was in the fetal position for about 48 hours before my roommate finally took me in to the emergency room. I was pretty much gone and only remember bits a peices of what happened. It ruptured when they took it out. It definitely was not a fun time. I had one flair up before this that went away, but this one was going to kill me. Val should just have it removed or it's possible for it to come back at an inopportune time.

hope it isn't too serious. for some reason the word karma is flashing in my head.

Wasn't it just a year and a half ago that Spies had his appendix out and went racing less
than two weeks later? Ben needs to call up Vale and tell him to man up.

Very true, I had forgetten about that. Some guys are just tougher than others! But Vale isnt missing any races or practices so he has nothing to be judged on! slev7n that was some funny ....

I say it is dietary and training related - he has been eating the wrong foods and over-training and thus has had some form of breakdown/issue/medical concern that has been undiagnosed so far as I have seen no results released by respected surgeons etc etc etc yadda yadda ya
<

Oh, and appendix is no fun - been there, done that, recall pain - ouch.
