Was Dani the only one on the 08 bike? It's not too bad for a fist day with it.

Capi was pretty fast, I thought he was finished, but he was almost as quick as CV. Maybe I was wrong, we'll see in the future.

Elías was quick too with the D'Antin Ducati! I think I'm gonna support Toni a lot in 08!!

Randy was pretty good too, fastest of the Honda satellites.

Hopkins was uninmpressive, too early to make a judgement though

Lorenzo was good too, quickest of the 250cc rookie lot, would have been interesting if there were other Yamahas around to compare.

Guintoli not bad.

Melandri was BAD, over 2 seconds slower than Casey on the same bike.

DeAngelis a bit faster than Dovi on the satellite Hondas (Dovi myth might finally break)

And not much more, the test riders are obviously slower, thought that Guareschi guy must be a really brilliant test rider, cause man he is SO slow almost as slow as Schumacher!

God I hope Marco gets to grip with the rossa!!!

so if this year if marco doesnt come close to stoner, will it finally put an end to the debate its the "rider not the bike"?

also forgot to add

18. Michael Schumacher 1.37's

i guess so because i know Melandri is a top rider but lets give him time on the bike first hes just got on it.

No.
The Ducati rider did not show any kind of talent that Pedrosa and Rossi demonstarted again and again. Show me starting from 13th place and winning a race! If every one was riding like the Ducati rider, moto GP will be 10 times as boring as F1.

Agreed. New bike, new team. He's got a winter to learn it too.

stoner was fast with the ducati, straight off the bat last season. so time will tell if melandri will be. but people wont be satisfied till rossi is on the ducati. i hope to see rossi on it in 2010..... by then stoner would of improved another 2 years and well rossi would be 30. so the next excuse would be rossi isnt in his prime.

By then stoner will be in his mid 20's, unable to improve much.

Rossi will never race for Ducati they couldn't afford his salary and whats to say they will still be on top in 2010.

I doubt they will because Honda have bigger bucks and better engineers.

The Yam is gonna struggle for the forseeable future with their technical outlook and with it getting more difficult for the rider to make the difference i can not say the future is looking good. They better try everything to win the champ next year or it might become impossibility.

Hard to win from 13th place if you always start from the front two rows of the grid. I don't think anyone except rossi does that sort of thing in the dry anymore, and even then they must have made mistakes with the set-up during qualifying or he would not have been so far back.

At this stage pedrosa and stoner seem to be about equivalent talent wise, and both seem to prefer dominating from the front. Stoner is better in the wet, and actually did get shuffled well back in one of the wet races this year and quickly made his way back to the front.

I wonder why Westy wasn't testing

You'd think, after his race, that he needs as much time around Valencia as possible...

Odd, gp.com reports that he had a day off, seems strange to me..

I have to say it again.... Watch the 250 Championship from a couple of years back...

Pedrosa, Stoner, DeAngelis, Dovi, Lorenzo, Depuniet.

DeAngelis is really good. I am expecting good things from him and Dovi.. Dovizioso has not had a solid bike yet. I would love to see him on a real factory backed ride and top tyres...

Time will tell.
