Topeka in Trouble?

EDIT: Interesting how Mladin is now so concerned about safety when he could give one flying .... about John Rock Page's a few weeks ago.

An onboard from a car, the kink up the main straight is wayyy dangerous for bikes.

My prediction might be coming true. I jokingly said it would be awesome if Mladin built up a huge lead in points and then just quit racing until someone got close enough to make him uncomfortable.Maybe thats what he can do next year to poke DMG in the eye. Just run every other race and win the title. This series has gone from initial hatred of DMG, to comic relief, to almost feeling sorry for the inept .......s. I said almost. This debacle is going to challenge All My Children for the longest running soap and may even win an Emmy or two.

from Mladins twitter, read from bottom up

counted. amazing how great they can ride a bike but be the most gutless people I have ever known. spineless!
saying that the work will happen in stages. its the reason why some places we go now are still bad. because riders wont stand up and be
people are advising what to do and unfortunately i do not wish to die or be busted up waiting for that work to be done. some riders are
turn 3 where a wall has removed and if you run off the track you go into a 10ft deep ditch. the track seem willing to do work but the wrong
So Topeka today! 170mph turn 1 and you can hit the concrete with your shoulder, which leads to turn 2 head on into concrete which leads to

What a horrible way to read something...

Mat Mladin, a true martyr. STFU and just say you don't want to ride the track because it's unsafe. I wouldn't hold it against him. I've been rooting for that outcome since I first read the story.

That high speed kink on the front straight looks sketchy. Overall the track looks like it is pretty tight and not completely safe. The way Ulrich and Hayes were talking about the place, I expected a few very dangerous spots at some of the lower speed turns (like the final turn at Road Atlanta). Instead the place looks like lots of moderate danger with a couple of lethal sections.

Not 1 rider has stood up to DMG this year. Every time there is an issue there is a whole
lot of murmuring and then it ends there.
Until someone gets a backbone I ask myself why should I care if the ones that it actually affects
don't seem to.

Well, according to Don Sakakura, Matt's bike is back on the truck. We'll see if it stays there.

But, it appears the track crew was going to be working overnight to fix some of the issues.

Im not sure what you mean about the final turn at Road Atlanta. The new configuration is not dangerous at all and the old configuration was a lot of things ,but slow wasnt one of them.

Roger just cant seem to keep his pie hole shut. Earlier this year, he made the comment about track safety that just because your fast, doesnt mean you intelligent. That caused a huge uproar and started the fans down this path of hatred for DMG. In an interview 2 days before this weekends race, he says it again

"I do differ on this concept that the people who are fast automatically makes them the most qualified to express what needs to be done or what should be done. And I‘m certainly not implying that you can’t be fast and extremely intelligent at the same time. I’m saying that’s not a guaranteed combination."

How intelligent do you have to be as a racer to ride around a track and come back and say, that concrete wall that i can hit at 170 mph seems to be unsafe, or that 25 foot deep hole that was behind the wall you removed might also be dangerous. Does it take a PHD in physics for someone to come to that conclusion or would someone who runs a multi million dollar business on the side while winning six AMA titles suffice. He is talking about Mladin since he is the only one that has the sack to say anything. He also says in this same interview

"we put together a small group and went to Heartland Park. We got good advice there. We have a promoter there who is new to the sport who is willing and able to make the investment, and I think everybody is going to be quite pleased in a few days when we get there."

Guess not Roger

<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE (Cankles @ Jul 31 2009, 01:59 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}><div class='quotemain'>Hacking out now, too!

Who's next?
If that is true, his decision means even more than Mladins since he is involved in a real points contest. Mladin could probably miss the rest of the season and win the title wheras this will most defineatley cost Hacking any chance of a title. Good for him though, someone besides Mladin needed to stand up. It would be even better if a younger rider did it since both Mladin and Hacking are probably done after this year. Eslick, Cardenas, Herrin can go along way towards letting DMG know that in the future, this ........ will not be tolerated. Not to mention the huge respect from fellow competitors that have stuck their neck out for their future.

DMG needs to be told that making lots of money in stock car racing makes one neither intelligent nor fit to run a motorcycle series.
