Wow...I want some of what this guy is smoking.

How can you really come to any other conclusion other than the new Honda 800 was tailor made for Prince Dani? Puig mentions that the new bike is only 4kg lighter, but fails to notice that the ERGOS are perfect for Dani and people like Nicky have said they don't enjoy being quite so cramped.

Second post by the way. This forum is great! Can't wait to follow the season with you guys.

Listen to Puig’s inconsistencies, really…

1) “The truth is that Dani, a small rider, now has less of a disadvantage than last year, but he continues to be handicapped. This is the reality”… and …“Being a more manageable bike, that has somewhat less power, it requires a riding style and line that in some cases is similar to a 125cc or 250cc bike, and it is clear that he feels more at ease with this bike. It demands other things from the rider, like preparing better for the corner exit, for example. Dani is more comfortable with this style of riding and this is important”… So, does he Dani have “Less of a disadvantage” or more of an advantage?

2) “We have always looked for the best for Dani, and the only thing that I can say is that Pedrosa will always be in the best available team. This is our intention and the philosophy with which we understand the races. If he is riding for Honda, better, but if that weren’t to be possible we will always look for the best technical and mechanical conditions to allow Dani to develop his full potential and we will look to be in the team in which he feels best treated”… and …” We have a good organization, on a team level, and I believe that we are prepared to continue with the line of work that we have set out, and that the support of Honda also gives a lot of confidence for the future”… kind of contradictory too, first they don’t need Honda but then have confidence on them in the future.

Translation: Pedrosa is the messiah, and will be treated as such. All aspects surrounding the Chosen One will succumb to his infallible wishes. All mistakes perceived are a figment of your corrupt imagination; for He is blameless.

What else would you expect from a person who utterly blamed Hayden for Pedrosa’s torpedo crash in Portugal.

Well…. you've come at the tail end of much debate over the Pedrosa issue; I’m sure much more will be spawned by the new season. But you may have some fun reading olds posts about it. Anyway, welcome to the site. We are in short supply of Hayden fans here; but we are making inroads.

God Jumkie, you really made me laugh… and remembering that of blaming Hayden elevated it!

Although i am largely not a fan of Alberto Puig, i think he has a point to some extent. The new bikes fit Dani to the same extent they didn't fit him last year, so there is no point acting like its a big deal now when nobody cared when he was stretching just to reach the bars.

I also want to point out, as i have done in a previous thread that it seems pretyt logical to me for honda to build the new bike the size it is. I don't think its building a bike just to fit dani, but its building a bike that will fit most of their riders in the future. If they had built a nice big bike for nicky hayden and then let Elias, Melandri, Pedrosa and nakano struggle on bikes that are too big, that'd be insane. Not to mention the next wave of 250 riders that honda will pick for their program in the not too distant future.

I also think the size isues of the new bike will pretty much go away once checa and hayden get mre fairing coverage and can be better protected

I think the Honda/800cc conspiracy theory that many members support is just laying the groundwork for future excuses and rationalizations. In the event that Pedrosa does win the title, the haters will have it firmly embedded in their minds that the guy had an unfair advantage; therefore, the haters won't feel so bad if their favorite rider was beaten. These people are scared of Dani, so scared, in fact, that they are preparing to diminish his future achievements.

Thats exactly it, just fear of the potential success. In pre season last year the talk was about how he wouldn't do well because he is small and weak. As soon as the Jerez result came in it turned to unfair advantae blah blah blah.
