Control tyre. The whole 'benefit to road users' idea for the tyre war is a little overrated imho, considering MotoGP tyres are designed to last around 40 minutes whereas road tyres have to last much, much longer. To me thats like saying the benefits of Honda's Formula One car are passed down to Civic owners. Can't see it, to be honest. You're looking at two very different animals.
The Control Tyre may soon become a nessecity rather than an option. The costs of competing are spiralling, and teams spend a great deal of time, and money, testing tyres. Add in the ever increasing grip they offer, and the switch to 800's, and corner speeds may spiral out of control.
We've seen the positive effect it's had on World Superbikes, and I think it's time we had it in MotoGP.
