First of all i am very happy to meet you all, even via internet!
I have read all of your posts about the Rossi-Stoner whinge and tyre war...
I am a huge Rossi fan, since he's riding for my favourite manufacturer, but you can't take anything away from Stoner.
The new tyre rules have certainly upset the previous balances, but until last year Michelin DID have an unfair advantage IMHO.
Bear in mind that Capi is on the SAME bike and tyres as the Aussie wiz kid,but has never even touched Vale so far this year.Turkey aside, where Rossi had a HUGE tyre problem if i am not mistaken...
Vale is the most talented lad on the track as we speak,but...
He cannot fill the gap between Yamaha/Michelin and Ducati/Bridgestone for one single reason...
Stoner is VERY near to Rossi as far as riding skill is concerned...
However,it's bike racing,so...dum spiro spero...as long as i live i hope!
Maybe Michelin have something up their sleeves for the second half of the season!
However we are heading straight ahead to Bridgestone territory,at least that's what 2006 showed us...
My regards to you all!!!!

Good to meet you too! Kevin Ash made a good point in MCn yesterday. There is no doubt that the BStones have a serious advantage this season, but every year some of the bikes have a big advantage over the others.

So, can we really complain about the tyres? unless there is a control tyre, or everyones on the same bike, it's never going to be a level playing field.

I normally treat MCN as the pile of ..... it is, but I do respect Kevin Ash as a knowledgeable journalist, who provides some great insight, particularly into mechanical and engineering issues.

I think you'll find Yamaha were pretty damn good with 2-strokes, they just suck at 4 strokes (how many WSBK title was it?)

Nice starting post Maniac. For the Stoner/Rossi fight I agree 100% with you. I also suspect more and more also are but of course they don't admit it
<

For the Bridgestone territory I'm not so sure. Yes they have the statistics on their side but on the other hand there are huge changes this year:
- new bikes
- new ruels
- new tires

- Jerez, Stones teritorry last year. Rossi ruled this year
- Yamaha has a very good and reliable chassi this year, last year was troublesome.

This is all factors to put into the equation. Add that Michelin must be working desperatly to come up with tires that work over a broader range of conditions, yamaha is working on the new engine. Sure Ducati/Bridgestones, honda, everyone does the same, but it is usually a catch up game and I expect the field to level out more in the remaining season and expect both exciting racing and a few surprices.

And what do racebike engineers (whoever they be ) base their ideas on?
