if past winners of the moto gp title are to go by then i think stoner will fade away as the season progresses.

look at roberts jr he decided to run the no1 plate and did sod all,he was faster at going backwards.
then hayden did the same, and now stoner.so if that is the case or the curse young stoner will struggle.

i mean rossi has won lots of races and many championships in all classes but has always opted for the 46.

this is my opinion of it
do you have a suggestion

The history of motorcycle Grands Prix extends further back than 2000.

And also, as has already been discussed, Stoner is the new Doohan

and he wore the No.1 for a few years

aren't sheene and rossi the only motogp champions to keep their numbers? Hardly enough to draw conclusions.

So did Agostini, but as has been discussed, he's NOT better than anyone.

Are you by any chance superstitious - because that's what it sounds like? I hardly think putting a number on a motorcycle is going to effect things one way or the other.

Its potentially the lightest number out there too though

Exactly. Besides, only garlic will ward off the evil track demons.

I thought everyone knew this . . . .

Son, I think you are mistaking "superstition" with "youth".

The main reason certain riders won't run the #1 plate is simply superstition. Rossi is a very superstitious fellow, take for instance his ritual when getting on the bike as proof. He never ran it because he didn't want to jinx himself. Also there is that quick recognition in seeing the #46, it's basically his "Rossi Brand", which all started for him back in the 125's.

Anyone else find it interesting that Pedrosa switched to running #2 on his bike this year? Did he just jinx himself to always finish 2nd in the championship?

i believe what you say is what you get. if you think in a negative way like " i will be crap at this" you will be crap.

lots of riders are superstitious and have there little rituals to keep these superstitions at bay. if by doing this it sets a positive thought in your mind you will do well. its not the number on the bike that matters it's your frame of mind. there are no magical powers at work here only your own mind.
