Ten Kate WSBK Lineup for 08 as 'rumoured' by Fox commentators:-

1. Kenan Sufoglu
2. Anthony West
3. Robby 'Hanspree' Rolfo
4. Broc Parks

I like the looks of that.. Although, im not completely sure Parkes has prooven himself as a potential regular WSBK front runner.. Id also prefer that Ant stays in GP's.. But as far as a fallback option goes, that looks like a good one for him...

What's everyone elses thoughts as far as the possible signings go? Or who would you like to see get a much coveted Ten Kate CBR?

if these four names are all for HRC supported superbikes then i would like to see

1. Sofuoglu
2. Kiyonari
3. Fabrizio
4. Edwards

Xaus is being rumored to be having or having had talks with Hanspree and Ten Kate bosses.
I'd certainly find it an interesting choice to hire the Spiderman!

Parkes can barely get to grips with riding a supersport for an entire championship. If Ant can't get a ride in GP then this is arguably the best team to be in WSBK. I'd rather see Kiyo and Rea move up with Sofuoglu. Edwards can take the final slot so we can stop watching him get .... on in GP.

i'd like to see west end up on the kawasaki gp squad next season & see what he can do. edwards will go back to ama. he's as good as said so! kiyo would be a good choice sufoglu earned it parks & rolfo... no. rea needs to get to gps asap imo!

Not doubting what you said, where did you hear that Edwards would most likely go back to AMA.I would love to see it but i just assumed he would go WSBK if he doesnt grab a GP ride.

hey pov it was in an interview i read... don't ask me were i read it DAMN i knew i should of posted a link to the article. but basically ce said he has no intrest in wsbk since he's already won that title. he never won the ama sbk title so he was looking at it as unfinished buisness i guess. he also did'nt seem to be to thrilled with the endless travleing around anymore & racing in the ama he gets to stay home, have his cake & eat it too!

Here ya go Frosty and Povol: http://www.superbikeplanet.com/2007/Jul/070725-ce2.htm

Here are some excerpts:

Some conventional wisdom sees Edwards possibly back in WSBK...unless you ask him. He has no interest in going back to World Superbike. Less than zero, actually.

However one series Edwards does have interest in, as out-of-left-field as it may sound, is the US Superbike series.

Edwards wasn't able to win the US Superbike title before he left for Europe. And that seems to bother him, judging from a conversation after the race at Laguna last Sunday.

Edwards seemed quite interested in racing in the US for a year or two before he retires, for a few personal and professional reasons. "I'm 33," Edwards said. "I basically have had no adult life at all. I have no friends (at home) because I'm always in Europe. And, you know, I wasn't able to win the (US) Superbike title before I left."

And more:

Asked to rate his interest level in racing here in the US, Edwards said it isn't just mild interest. "My interest level on that is really quite high," he said in his motorhome. "If I can't get the deal on the team I want in MotoGP, then maybe I'll just go fishing. Or, maybe I'll race here."

Kiyo needs to be in WSBK or GPs next year. If not on a Ten Kate, then on something equivalent. Gresini maybe?

Oh yeah, and the GREAT Ben Spies is better isn't he?

Get over it mate, AMA isn't the hugely competitive field it used to be.

You said today that spies "belongs in motogp" and then say here that the champ from a equal (and arguably superior) national series will do squat in GP's. That is a large spread of belief for two riders so equally qualified, i understand a bit of Pro american bias but be more reasonable.

nothing to do with pro american tom. kiyo is overated by u guys. i'm not sayin that spies is gonna be kickin ... & takin names but kiyo had almost an entire season on the rc211v... & never even got close to a top ten. look at kagayama in wsbk & thats were kiyo is gonna be. you should be more excited about jonathan rea not the guy from JAPAN. it's not about which series is the best. i like both. the ama has been rather boring for the last couple of seasons tho

I see, if this is about his motogp stint in 2003 then i think you should give him a second chance. He was way in at the deep end back then having never even ridden slicks before! That period does not represent the rider he is today and i really think that back in gp he could do some damage.

James Toseland may have decided to turn his back on the World Superbike Championship for next season, but Ten Kate Racing will still be around with a pair of Honda Fireblades.
SUPERBIKE 2007 Monza James Toseland Ten Kate Honda - 0

Eurosport.yahoo.com assesses the prime candidates to replace the British star as he switches to Moto GP.

Kenan Sofuoglu

Nationality: Turkish

Age: 22

2007 form: 1st in World Supersport Championship (six wins)

Should be the favourite after clinching the Supersport world title on a Ten Kate bike at Brands Hatch. A blistering season has seen him eliminate the crazy crashes that blighted him last year and blow everybody else, bar the fleeting Anthony West, into the weeds. Ten Kate though are keen to place him in a B-squad, a move he is happy to agree to. Honda though, have other ideas and, should a HRC contract come his way, he would well be off to a factory ride in 250cc GPs instead.

Ruben Xaus

Nationality: Spanish

Age: 29

2007 form: sixth in World Superbike Championship (1 win)

The Spaniard was seen deep in conversation with Ronald Ten Kate at Brands Hatch and must be considered a major contender. Despite numerous crashes this year he has worked wonders on a year-old Ducati and even broke a three-year winless spell at Valencia. Certainly quicker than current number two Roberto Rolfo, but will that be enough to net him the ride? If not, then a return to the works Ducati squad could be in the offing.

Colin Edwards

Nationality: American

Age: 33

2007 form: seventh in Moto GP World Championship

Honda's most successful rider in World Superbike history has looked a shadow of his former self since moving to Moto GP five years ago. Two world titles and 31 wins make the Texas Tornado an attractive proposition to anybody. Add to that his undoubted enthusiasm to return to the winner's circle and you have the ideal replacement for Toseland. He will not be cheap though and the exodus of championship sponsor Corona means there will be little or no pressure on series organisers FG Sport to have an American in the series.

Neil Hodgson

Nationality: British

Age: 33

2007 form: Ducati Moto GP test rider

The 2003 world champion is desperate to return to the championship after four years away and even turned down a Gresini Honda ride at the United States Grand Prix in favour of a one-off outing with a privateer AMA Superbike squad in the support race as evidence. The fact that he's the only man in the last decade to match Troy Corser for qualifying speed is a major plus. Manager Roger Burnett is the same man that stood up for Ten Kate when Gresini tried to poach Toseland earlier in the year, so they owe him a favour. Max Biaggi's form this year proves a year away is no barrier against a rider with so much natural speed.

Jonny Rea

Nationality: British

Age: 20

2007 form: 2nd in British Superbike Championship (4 wins)

To be honest, Rea's a bit of a long shot. He's contracted to HRC and so, if he remains under their wing, will either continue in British Superbikes next year or potentially be handed a plum Moto GP ride with Gresini. On the other hand, HRC blocked his Moto GP debut with KR at Donington in order to free him up for the Suzuka Eight Hours, in which he was not even used in the end. Such a knockback could have frustrated him to the extent that he could be convinced to leave.

Good article roger. I think you can pretty much count out Edwards though. If he goes anywhere it's gonna be AMA.

And frosty, Kiyo has skills man. So does Ben though I think.

never said that kiyo did'nt have skills! he has more skill than any of us could hope for... i just don't think he's gp material. could be wrong but i don't think i am. as far as ben go's i think he needs to move now & to gps not to another sbk series. does he have what it takes to be competitive at the pinacle? he needs to get there so we can find out!
