I myself will pick Mat Mladin. The Dunlops should allow him to blow the rest away but I think even on equal machinery Mladin would have been quickest. Rumors report he beat Alex Criville's outright Eastern Creek GP lap record in his most recent test which wrapped up today.

The tires may or may not have an advantage. Suppsoedly they are now up to MotoGP pace with the perfect conditions that Pirelli had to compare against the "crappy" conditions MotoGP has ran there. the tires can either make or break the advantage Mladin may have.

I was going to pick Corser on the basis that he is Australian ridin on an Australian track but since Mladin is an Aussie as well I picked Corser just because he has the most recent experience there. Mladin hasn't been there (to my knowledge) in a championship race with modern bikes in a long time.

I picked Biaggi because I don't care

I "read" over the only report I could find, it was from an Italian website that I have lost the link to. I had to translate it but only could manage a couple bits and pieces. Troy Corser has done a 1.33.6 and Mladin a 1.33.9 although he crashed and according to the site destroyed his bike and is in question for tomorrow's test schedule.

For the biggest piece of the story check out the Biaggi to Suzuki WSB -- Rumors thread.

Good for Corser. He also set the second fastest time (Behind Bayliss) at WSBK teasting at Qatar. He beat Nori, JT and Lanzi.
Afer his slump in the late part of the '05 season (Luckily he managed to take the championship anyway) I really thought he wouldn't be a front runner this year. I wasn't discounting him all together, but I honestly thought he wouldn't be a top contender for the title this year. Maybe I was wrong. That said, these are only tests, and we all know good performances in pre season tests dosen't always lead to a sucessful season.

Hope Bayliss keeps his form up, though.

After day three Mladin is the fastest man on track. Testing is scheduled to conclude tomorrow but there is some speculation of some of the teams leaving after today's proceedings. Results as follows (Courtesy www.motonline.com):

1. Mladin (Aus-Suzuki) 1’32”4
2. Corser (id) 1’32”79
3. Martin (id-Petronas) 1’33”40
4. Kagayama (Gia-id) 1’33”60
5. Abe (id-Yamaha) 1’34”00
6. Gimbert (Fra-id) 1’34”2
7. Jones (GB-Petronas) 1’35”6

Pretty good for a guy who hasn't ridden the track since 2000 on an RGV 500 no less.

If Mladin can beat a reigning world champ, I think he's got a pretty good chance at the AMA title.... again. Sorry Ooost, it's shaping up to be another Mladin year.

Hear about the results of Martin's "Lucky" crash last year?

It's going to be tough to beat Mladin but if there is any rider who can beat any other rider when his head is right it's Ben Bostrom. The guy is blindingly fast when his head is right, his head seemed to be right at Daytona. Bring on 2006.

Which lucky crash last year?

Saw it on the news the other day. Martin was involed in some 5 rider pile up at I can't remember which round. Anyway when the dotors were gluing him back together they found a cancer in its early stages in his liver, and got rid of it pretty quick. That crash potentially saved Steve's life (Best thing a Petronas has ever done) Pretty lucky if you ask me.

Bostrom sounds like Mladins challenger, but like you said he's fast "when his heads right." I don't know much about the guy but it seems like hes one of those riders who need everything to be perfect to perform. And its never always perfect, you know? That's one of Rossi's skills (Along with his confidence, anticipation, determination, intelligence and perfect lines). He dosen't need everything to be perfect.

unless the planets are in line, & fall on mladin, the ben b. ain't ur man... sorry Ooost it ain't gonna happen.

Does AMA stand for American Motorcycle Association or American-Mauling Aussie
eeeeh... watch it!!!
<
somebody gonna knock him off is stump eventually

Year after year one of the Bostroms are supposed to be Matt biggest rival...It doesn't happen.
This season will be an all Suzuki affair again. Sad thing...I am a Ducati and Honda guy.
I would love to see Miguel Duhamel kick some ... again.

Yeah, and someone will knock the Doctor off one day too.... but not this year, mate.

You guys talk like Mladin is invincible. I'm not bashing here but I think the competition is being overlooked. I for one am a Bostrom believer but Hodgson is entering his second season in America aboard a much improved 999. Honda has made some big strides in improving the CBR1000RR and Miguel Duhamel and Jake Zemke are more than capable of winning races and chasing for the championship as was evident in 2004.

I'm not saying Mladin is going to lose, I'm just saying with the competition this year is as good as any for someone to knock off Mladin.

Well you're the one in the know, buddy. Like I said I can't get much on AMA down here. I'll be rooting for Mladin though.

It will be a good season for sure, just like every other series.

i hope mladin gets beat. i would enjoy that emensly. just like i would love to see rossi get beat!!! a guy can dream!!!!!
