Nicely done, it reminds me of porsche's video for the GT3, it would be nice to see another factory make a comedy skit video like Yamaha did with it's GP riders.

Interesting thing for me about this video is that it is filmed at a very private track very near me.

How cool is it to have that in your back yard
<
Probably the nearest decent road track near to Stoner's place too so I guess it was done either over the Xmas break or the during the 1 month break because Motegi is out.

The guy who built it was the CEO of Coca Cola Amatil and he apparently built it just to use his Maclaren F1. It has recently been sold and is available for hire ....... very expensive though.

Very aimed at the "wannabes" but nicely filmed anyway.

Barry, it is not a 'track' but a 5 km long driveway.

The track is indeed the farm and I have been there to 'assist' a private hire which of course means some driving of the place and it is nothing short of brilliantly dangerous. It is as you say a labour of love for it's owner, a genuine car enthusiast and yes it was built for him, his friends and their collection of vehicles but it has now been opened up to a select few as well.

It is the best piece of tarmac I in a 'track' environment (there are some road stretches that I do feel are better) and has absolutely no margin for error, you stuff up and you will hit a tree or simply 'go bush' and be lost for a while. It is dangerous, it is potentially deadly, yet it was described to me by a few with V8 Supercar or Group C competition experience as such things as 'better than ...', 'stunning' and 'farken brilliant' such was their enthusiasm, but to a person they also said it was the most dangerous piece of road they had driven.

It can be used in both directions and the main straight would be 280kph + uphill and in excess of the magic 300 downhill, some sweepers mixed with tight technical stretches, tight braking through to drifting corners.

Yes it is expensive but it is generally booked solid and getting hold of it is not a case of a phone call, but a case of who you know so most people should not hold their breath, but you can get access.

I don't think you'd hit the trees dead on ........ the embankments would give you a good take off so you would probably fall into the trees

Are you a local up here ( near the farm ) Gaz?

Looks as if they asked Stoner to tone down his style for the commercial...guess that makes sense, you can't have folks imitating Stoner.

If that was my driveway I would never ben posting on here, I'd either be dead or riding/driving it all the time...

Not sure why Gaz said its a driveway cos its actually a circuit. The driveway does go past the house and connect with it, but its a bit of a stretch to call it a driveway

You check it out ..... plug this into Google earth:

I suppose you could do a lap before and after work, but I'd say its not really essential

You would hit the trees dead on, believe me as many are actually totally unprotected by banks and in some interesting areas. Yes certainly the banks are in place in some areas of the place but not all way round, and even then the banks are angled and as such will launch vehicles airborne and over them, which in some places is around 25 feet.

I call it a driveway because that is officially what it is from a legal and council perspective - there have been and are no approvals for a racing circuit at that location.

The layout Baz is slightly different to that which you mention as the 'driveway' does goes past the house but does not officially connect with it as what connects to the house is unpaved and off the true driveway, besides that is his guest house anyway.

EDIT: Baz, check your inbox - link to pics
