I'm actually out on the coast at Norah Head. The surf at Ourimbah is more Arab's style.

Lots of planks at Ourimbah though!! ( what with its place name meaning "place of tall timber" ) so if Rog. came, he could find two planks and have somebody to talk to!! ........ sorry Rog.That was rude .... but I couldn't resist
<

Norah Head is named after "bungaree's norah" a norah being a grinding stone ...... its unclear whether Bingaree literally had a grinding stone on the rock platforms here or whether that is an expression describing the surf on the reefs etc. around here ( being somewhat "grinding" when the big swells come ).

Close.

Tell us where you are - I absolutely ....... guarantee you'll be taken up on that - with a huge audience in tow.

Alternatively wouldn't it be great to bring you here - if someone offered to pay for your airfare?

No ...... as we have already discussed!! Why would that be good? I suppose you'd be wanting me to "meet up" with you guys too next!! And you'd be so full of yourselves, that you likely think I'll enjoy that

Let me see ...... Take a trip to Broome or meet Arab or Jumkie ..... whatever would I choose ...?

Oh gotcha Norah Head. Heres some more wild made up stories for Arab. I spent about 5 years at Lake Munmorah. I used to go water skiing on the lake, with my dad. And I used to drive to boat, under age, no license, and no spotter while my dad was waterskiing! Crocodiles everywhere!!! Its true Arab. No wait a minute, the powerstation made the lake a haven for jellyfish, not crocodiles. But the rest is true, drove the boat with no spotter!! But since its Australia, its actually possible to be on a lake without another boat or person in sight!!!! where's the music...........................

That's one of the many things I love about Australia - the true feeling of wilderness and solitude..something I only really experience in the U.K. when in Scotland, Cumbria or parts of Westen Ireland. One of the problems with Western Europe is the population density but at certain times of year the Dolomites, the Austrian Alps, and Norwegian Fjordland offer a great sanctuary.

Why would you want to confine yourself to Oz when New Zealand's just accross the water? You should visit if you haven't already, much as I love what I've seen of Australia parts of the South Island NZ simply make your scenery irrelevant. Personally, I prefer the Kiwi's too - tend to be hardier people.

Forget having a lake without another person in sight - Hike in the Mount Aspiring area and you get the feeling that you have the entire National Park to yourself.

Parts of the US are like that too Arrab. I've been fishing a few times with my other half's dad, which basically involves us flying out somewhere really remote in his piper, finding a field to land the plane in and staying there for a day or two...makes you feel very insignificant.

You jest for sure, however as you are probably aware Lake Macquarie is getting quite clean again these days ( what with all the mining concerns leaving ), and there are now regular shark sitings well into the lake and its estuaries. One of my fishing friends and his mate spotted a shark they described as "bigger than their 12 foot dingy!! I certainly would not swim in Dora Creek anymore ...... there just has to be Bull Sharks in there!! I see kids swimming in the rip under Swansea bridge, talk about shark bait in shark city!!

Its the same around Norah Head, all the wildlife is coming back. Whales just about every weekend in season, a sea lion ( I'm told ), the other day I saw my first actual seal out of captivity. He was resting on rocks near the rock pool so I assume he was avoiding something big and predatory. There's also a pod of orcas which haven't been seen for near twenty years in the Sydney area.
