Spies to Gresini??

Can't imagine this happening. Especially if Gresini don't get a Honda to run around on next year.

Honda surely would offer Spies factory support if this is actually happening...

It would be more of a marketing move than factory backing. American Honda has to lease the bikes from HRC. No different from the old AMA days! If AmHonda is behind this, it would also solves Gresini money/sponser issues. Like I said, marketing to increase sales in North America. Also House & Woody are former Honda people.

Much as I like Bautista, he really hasn't done what he should have been doing this year: fighting with the Tech3's and beating Bradl. Don't know if that ride would be a match for Spies, I'd rather see him go to WSBK. Give it to de Puniet, I say.

I heard via the Eurosport commentators that Gresini has fallen out of favor with HRC and so wont be getting same level of factory support in 2013.....so unless HRC are convinced of Spies ability over that of Bradl ... Spies at Gresini wont be any better than 2012 on the factory yamaha.

I agree. That's why I mentioned about not being on a Honda. Eurosport did mention a fallout between the team and Honda because of aprilia ( I think ).

Seems to me Ben was looking to leave the series, not get on a worse bike in the same series. Unless he thinks the focus on him will be more at Gresini..and the pressure will be less. Could go CRT in that case.

First of all, I take no truth in these faceless rumors. 2nd, if in the unlikely even Ben did consider a Honda, perhaps at this point all he's hoping for is for the bike not to grenade itself.

Would rather see Johnny Rea on a Gresini Honda

Um, no.

Rea is a clown. A reckless clown who on the rare occasion that he fails to ruin a perfectly good outing, sparingly places the bike on the podium. His talent is routinely squandered because his race craft is so glaringly immature.

With all due respect of course!

Very highly thought of by the Honda big wigs though........

Anyway, this was posted to get a response out of the Mexican guy who hangs out on this forum. Not you !

Gresini: "I would like to continue with Álvaro"

[background=transparent]Gresini is currently the centre of attention of the "rider-market.” After Andrea Dovizioso signed with Ducati, Cal Crutchlow and Bradley Smith for Monster Yamaha Tech 3, Álvaro Bautista’s ride is now the precious seat up for grabs.[/background][background=transparent]

[background=transparent]

Speaking to motogp.com, Gresini commented: "At this time we have not yet defined our plans for next year... I can say that I am very happy with Álvaro and I am not hiding the fact that I would like to continue with him: he is a rider that I respect a lot, who I think has great potential."[/background][background=transparent]

He continued: "I do not like to give a rider just one year, because it would be limiting. It is clear that in the market it is difficult to know what will happen, but the goal is to carry out the project that started this season, which I care a lot about. On the other hand, it is important to always have an alternative and you cannot just work with one rider, but that's part of the game, the riders do it, and so do the team."[/background][background=transparent]

And the Italian has no problem naming names: "We talked with Spies and Redding, but we also spoke with Álvaro and I think this is the important thing. Nothing is decided. We have a Honda motorcycle, an important motorcycle, but it is difficult to work on the 2013 project now, but soon we will have to."[/background][/background]
