Starting this Friday, Speed Channel is down the memory hole, and Fox Sport 1 will takes its place as carrier of Moto Gp. As on this second, they do not have contracts with Direct, Dish, or Time Warner. Thats approx 55 million subscribers, or over 50% of the paying customers in the country. I doubt they will feel the wrath if GP is not available this Sunday, but the Nascar fans who are tuning in to watch, it could get ugly for someone. Just this week, i told Dish, look, i pay you motherfuckers 130 bucks a month for channels listed in my agreement. I will be watching the NFL on Fox with or without you, get something done. They tried to bribe me with these chicken .... discounts and how we are fighting for the little guy blah blah, i told them that missing the NFL is not an option, PERIOD, end of discussion. In a weird twist of timing, i got an email from Dish 5 minutes later saying they had reached an agreement and Fox had been restored. Now, another disagreement with the new sports channel. Who will blink first. Does Fox risk a startup weekend without millions of its potential customers, or do the providers fold because the customers pay them and they are the ones who get bombarded with angry subscribers threatening to drop the service. Luckily, for this round, i will be at the track, who nows whats in store for the futuire races. I might just have to break down and subscribe to MotoGP.com.
