Mamola said they were working on his right knee at the clinica mobile...nothing more yet...pretty big crash he had there..still lucky to walk away on his feet from that one

<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE <div class='quotemain'>The strange but spectacular accident saw the young Spaniard suddenly lose control midway through a fast right hander, perhaps after he or his machine clipped a kerb, throwing him into the air before tumbling through the gravel. Dani fortunately walked away without any visible signs of injury, but went straight to the medical centre where he remained for the rest of the session. Early reports indicate some form of leg wound, the extent of which could have a serious influence on the championship outcome.

How did Pedrosa perfom under injury in 125s and 250s? I know he had a big smash at the Island one year.

Being the champion of 125 cc, he smashed his two ankles in Philip Island during the practice of his last race in the class, to spend the whole winter with crutches and then, you know, he was given a 250 cc and won his first race on it.

Anyway, he spent the last third of the season last year with a broken shoulder, to win the championship, under the firm instructions of Puig to keep the injury secret.

Nobody believes it, but Pedrosa is a lazy Mexican

<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE <div class='quotemain'>Capirossi: We won't go much faster.

Despite pre-event protestations to the contrary, Loris Capirossi proved he will be very tough to beat this weekend in Malaysia by leading both of Friday's free practice sessions at Sepang.

The Ducati Marlboro rider, winner last time out at Brno and at Sepang last season, knocked more than one second off his morning time to already dip under his own 2005 pole pace.

That left Capirossi 0.3secs clear of nearest rival Dani Pedrosa, but with the second in the championship MotoGP rookie ending the session in the medical centre - putting the remainder of his weekend in doubt - it may be the frightening 0.8secs gap to third fastest Kenny Roberts Jr that is most relevant.

"We started with one bike using a set-up based on what we used at Brno, the other with a set-up similar to what we ran here during winter tests," explained Capirossi. "I preferred some characters of each, so we are working to create the best combination. Halfway through the afternoon session we did encounter some problems but my guys are working really well, so we quickly found the right way again. We are working well together and getting the results we deserve but we have to stay united and focused because our target is to stay in front of the others.

"Today I went faster than I managed on qualifiers last year though partly because it's cooler now," he stated. "I don't think it will be possible to go much faster than today but we will keep working to allow me to be more natural on the bike. Even though Friday results aren't so important I want to dedicate today to my manager Carlo Pernat who isn't here because of a family bereavement. He will be here tomorrow which is great news because I miss having him with me."

Capirossi is currently fifth in the world championship standings, 50 points behind Nicky Hayden, but the Repsol Honda rider was only 11th fastest on Friday with third in the points Valentino Rossi just seventh.

Makes the whole race shthouse if riders are out. Specially when they are week in week out front runners like The droser

Dani has only 4 stiches.... Melandri ran Sepang last year with 30 stiches on his ankle.... i think he'll do fine.

He has a cut to his knee that is proving difficult to close with stitches, the last info to emerge was that when he tried to flex his knee the cut opened up again, which not surprisingly is proving rather painful.

I watched most of it and the consistant lap times went to: (on race tyres)
1st Rossi for memory low 2min 2.000s
2nd Gibbers +.100 sec
3rd Cappers +.200 sec

And those final results were due to soft tyres on at least the top 4 (dont think gibbers used them) + a few others

I watched it too on live timing. And I agree, those three were consistent. I was actually surprised to see hayden suddenly sprung to 2nd position, then KRJR followed only to be beaten by Capirossi for that third spot.

I think the report on the Motogp website is wrong. It says Pedrosa was the 5th fastest in that session. But the times say he were 6 secs off the pace! lets hope it is 5th. Check it

The time they state is the same time as his FP2 time so i think they screwed it up.

I've seen it. I'd believe the times more than the report.
May be the writer of the article is a Pedrosa fan

Grrr Rain delayed the qualify session for an hour for now....

I rains heavily so they might even cancel it...let's hope not....
