I'm surprised he quoted Spencer as greetin about Sic, as the guy has spent his time in GP moaning and wearing a skirt about everything.

Nothing new here. Sic was a dangerous ....... that didnt give a .....

Yeah already knew that. It was plain as day by anyone who wasnt mesmerized by clown show

I don't know that "dangerous ....... that didnt give a ....." is exactly the right description...

He was motivated, that's for sure. He took risks. But then, that's how championships have been won in the past.

He had a curious innocence. His judgement may have been questionable at times, but I don't think it is fair to say he didn't give a .....

I just re-read his interview, in case I missed it - but I can't see where he says that, or anything close to that.

I also dug up all the articles with Paolo Simoncelli I could find, in English and Italian and again, couldn't find any evidence that either of them said that he was as you describe.

I must have missed something - care to post some quotes?

What are we saying he didn't give a .... about?

His behaviour on track? Or other riders opinion of his behaviour on track? Because to me they are two different things, the former I'm sure he did, the latter I'm sure he didn't. One of the reasons I liked him.

When the current three best riders in the world publicly state that they believe Simoncellis riding to be dangerous, people need to heed the warnings and not just sweep them under the carpet as "crying and moaning" on their behalf.

I am also sure that if before his unfortunate demise you had polled the riders and general public as to who might be involved in a fatal accident Simoncellis name would have been top of the list. Having said that the unfortunate series of events that lead to his untimely death were nothing more than a freak set of circumstances and had nothing to do with dangerous riding on his or any other riders part - it was totally unavoidable and a tragic end to his life.

I do believe, however, that Pedrosa got it right when he stated Sic had "more hair than brains" as he seemed to repeatedly make the same mistakes and others were unfortunately involved in some of the many incidents where he crashed through rash decisions or dangerous riding.

Thats funny coming from a Scotsman considering they make a habit of wearing skirts

Do not speak ill of the dead

He just wanted to win at all costs, another unfortunate thing about his death was the people saying "i told you so"

Speaking ill of the dead can come accross as unpleasant but equally re-writing their life without any of the negatives has little value. As long as we are respectful discussion should not be avoided.

I too hated to idea of Marco's accident being an invitation for "I told you so", but for me Marcos riding was controversial at times but he became a victim of his own reputation for sure. A lot of fast and massively talented rookies have been crashers in their early days but Marco's problem was that he had incidents with other riders and that gets much more attention. I think most people would agree that Marco had actually sussed it out and toned his riding down to where it needed to be when he had his accident, that is the biggest shame.

Good post but I disagree with the end

If I remember correctly he binned that specific corner more then once in practice that weekend. He ran in too hot on tires not up to temp. How many times did we see him do that in his short GP career.

How different would the conversation be if Rossi or Edwards was killed in that crash instead of him. Its a very very fine line as to what can happen at speed. He would have been villified as a dangerous and out of control instead of becoming the hero that death has made him.

Personally I think that saying is as downright stupid as they come...Adolf Hitler was a great guy right?

I was as upset as anyone about Marcos death....but it does not change the history that lead up to his death. He was controversial and that can not be denied nor the truth overlooked for the sake of not offending peoples sensibilities.

Marco Sic was a decent guy who just needed a good sit down about his racing tactics.
