<{POST_SNAPBACK}><div class='quotemain'>125, 250, 500, 990(x4), now 800... abandoned honda and restored yam's glory... give credit where credit is due. the man is GOAT...
but where is credit to stoner? beat GOAT in 2007, give him run for his money this year, even rossi appreciated him as his toughest rival.
Rossi's Track Wins: Brno 4/9, Catalunya 5/9, Donington 5/9, Estoril 5/9, Indianapolis 1/1 (One race does not tell all), Jerez 5/9, Laguna Seca 1/4, Le Mans 3/9, Losail 2/5, Misano 1/2, Motegi 2/9, Mugello 7/9 (78% not the best track!), Nelson Piquet 4/5 (80% best track!), Phakisa Freeway 2/5, Phillip Island 5/8, Ricardo Tormo 2/8, Sachsenring 3/9, Sepang 4/8 (Hopefully this one too), Shanghai 2/4, Susuka 3/4. Average 49% wins at any given Track!
Rossi's Yearly Wins: 2000 = 2, 2001 = 11, 2002 = 11, 2003 = 9, 2004 = 9, 2005 = 11, 2006 = 5, 2007 = 4, 2008 = 8 (so far). That makes 70/148 = 47%.
Quoting myself: "332 Points in a Season is 35 short of his own record of 367 in 2005 (even with Stoner's 367 in 2007) with 2 races and 50 points remaining. Cross your fingers!"
Some say Rossi is not the best with most wins (70 so far) because Agostini's 8 Championships. Here we are at new bar level, wins in 22/23 tracks raced at, a bloody 'long' list of broken records, and the Championships you have mentioned. I could go on and on…
According to this, any newcomer needs better to be considered worthy close to best… I like it, keep digging graves!
