Rossi declines Marquez handshake

That’s ironic coming from Lorenzo.

Given that we know that Rossi thrives on this .... & always has, it’s not surprising at all. We know he has to view his rivals like that to fire himself up, a bit of aggro to get the racing juices flowing. It’s no different to any sport, & you just have to do what works for you & damn the criticism. It has been one fued after another because psychologically that’s what he needs to make the adrenaline flow.

I’ve seen other racers do it, Ayrton Senna & his focus on Prost, Schwartz/Rainey, Nelson Piquet & the world!!

A bit of needle is also fun isn’t it? Gets people watching. I mean, as soon as I saw it I came back here

It's sad really, any of these riders could lose their life this weekend.

I remember the bit in the Hitting The Apex film when Dani admitted he regrets not shaking Marco's hand.

I listened to the new Marquez interview on Front End Chatter #79, they asked him about his favorite rider, it was still Rossi. He idolized him growing up and I believe Rossi uses that as a way to play mind games with Marquez. Though, clearly, it isn't working. I feel a little bad for Marquez, you can tell he really would like to be friendly with Rossi.

I wish the bloody journo's would let it go,i cringe every time they bring it up ,that said you would think the ages were reversed and Marquez was the one nearing 40 and Rossi was the kid because he certainly acts like one, as for the booing,it serves Rossi's purpose and makes him feel justified so he'll never try to stop it.

Marquez actions are PR, every grown person knows that true things happen off the camera!

Good on Lorenzo for speaking the truth in a sea full of ........!!

In one and a bit years Sparta's own 'Red Mamba' has single handedly transformed the Ducati into a real title contender, with his correction of Stoners backwards development path. It was the Mamba's s ownl 'Mambadromic' valve train concept that has brought Ducati to where it is currently. Why you ask does he continue to develop the Ducati even though he is parting ways at seasons end... Put simply he is a Spartan, he loves a challenge and he really hates being bored.

His comments regarding the feud between (as he calls them) that yellow piss stained puta and that other puta with too many teeth validate the Mamba as the true second coming.... Lets face it not many men can carry off wearing their underwear outside their pants. The pope was gut wrenched when he was told that he wouldnt have the chance to meet the Mamba after upholding his end of the bargain with the other riders.

Lets not all forget., when the Spartan demands Ducati make him a longer spear (Because as he puts it "that yellow puta has quite a wide motorhome... and he is quite agile for his age") the factory drop everything and deliver... The Mamba doesn't have his own 'Lorenzo Emoji' Apple iStore app for no reason.

Stupid jokes aside, the body language in that press conference was something else. I almost fell out of my chair when the Mamba explained that last season he did everything he could to make sure 'his team/his factory' had the best chance of winning the title.... the way the Spartan defensively crossed his arms and tried to hide his conscious effort to not look at Dovi after that comment was hysterical. The Mamba doesn't call his team mate 'that sad eyed puta' for nothing.

That grin on Marquez's face when Rossi refused was hilarious. I don't think Marquez needs any more motivation to win races but I'm sure this will add to it.

I'm waiting for his biggest fanboy to come on and defend him...
:D:D:D Was going to say the same but refrained not wanting to be accused of starting .... - especially when it's so quiet - this being when flame wars so easily get started.

That little ....... has some nerve to offer his hand after Sepang 15, deliberate destroy Rossi championship even attempting to knock him off his bike with deliberate chopping across his front. Then Valencia right after where he refuse to pass Jorge and nearly crash Dani to prevent HIM from passing too. All this was orchestrate to screw Rossi and his championship. And this little prick want to shake hands? Wow. Talk about a 2 face ..... If Vale ever shakes hands or trust this guy again, I stop watching.

What a fascinating exhange. From a body language perspective I think MM here is very clever. Clearly this was an opportunity to assert his dominance upon VR in a public setting and a way to maintain the narrative that he is an unwilling participant in all this. He gave VR a cross to hang himself on and unfortunately VR grabbed the opportunity with both hands.

Of particular interest is the way he offers the hand. Clearly there is no real effort here as he maintains a closed posture and only gestures at the shake. Upon the (obvious and sheepish) rejection he immediately shrugs as if to say "see, what can I do?!".

I think VR has been very naive here and upon watching it back will probably be aware of the powerplay by MM.

Very subtle and quite well done by Marc, a bit clumsy and not well managed by VR who was looking for any reason he could find to avoid the hand shake and MM didn't need to be a rocket scientist here to predict VR's response.

For all that think I'm seeing things here, I'd like to point out that you don't get to be a world champion at this level without being a very shrewd operator when it comes to interpersonal relationships. MM has 5 premier class wins and I would bet the house on him using every tool at his disposal to ensure his place at the top perch of the sport.

I'll take things that didn't happen for $200

Living proof that "the multiverse" is not merely a theory.
