Virgin-backed F1 squad snap-up MotoGP legend's services for two F1 events in 2009
VALENTINO Rossi, the eight-time GP World Championship winner - one of the highest earning sports personalities in the world - will drive at selected F1 events this year for Brawn GP.
The Virgin-backed squad had a successful opening race in Australia, with Brit Jenson Button claiming top-spot on the podium, and have ambitious plans for the future.
Rossi, who has tested for Ferrari F1 in the past, has also been involved in secret testing with the Brawn squad, with a view to a full-time drive for the team after his contract with Yamaha expires in 2010.
Rossi will compete in two races this year - in a third car fielded by the Brawn team - the German Grand Prix at the Nürburgring on the 12th July and the European Grand Prix at Valencia on a street circuit on the 23rd August.
Brawn GP's Jenson Button commented: "We're a young squad who can make a difference in F1 and it'll be great to have someone with Valentino's character and talent in our paddock. I don't think he'll find it easy but I look forward to seeing what he can do."
