So as you guys may or may not know it is exactly a year since the tragic death of Shoya Tomizawa at Misano, he was only 19. He was an amazing rider who had a long and bright career ahead of him. He was an extremely popular guy, always smiling, not just with the fans but also with the GP paddock, admired and respected by many including Casey Stoner who said "He was a pleasure to watch" and went on to say the Shoya had a great attitude and he was looking forward to seeing what he would do in the future. Happy accidents like his' are few and far between but it is never good to loose a rider especially one so young, my thoughts and prayers are with his friends and family. He will always be in our hearts and will never be forgotten, #48 forever.

The video below was done shortly after the accident and is worth a watch:

Please take a minute or two to read/watch the above links and remember a truly amazing rider, who was full of promise. Also take a moment to remember the other riders who have tragically lost there lives doing what they loved.

They will always be in our hearts.

Losing Racers is always hard, last year was especially hard. Losing Shoya and little Peter Lenz at Indy Shoya seemed like a very fun and lovable guy to be around. Thanks for the post!

R.I.P Shoya tomizawa. < this is acyually my sig in the other forum i frecuently use. (non motorsport relacionated).

I'm glad i was able to attend to the Aragon race last year, i was able to participate in the minute of silence live.

I remember having to do an effort during the two weeks after the accident to not cry in front of my girlfriend, (now ex g friend) everytime they put the shoya tribute vids on TV, and that was quite often.

BTW if you can watch last years aragon race you can see my girlfrind walking down some stairs mear the end of the show......with a frikkin' Valentino hat on.

I remembered, i also put an RIP in the race thread before the start of the race. Last season sure was horrible with the loss of peter and Tomi. RIP

No problem The California Kid, I felt it was important for people to remember Shoya and not to forget what huge risks these riders take.

Peter Lenz's accident was awful and my heart went out to his' friends and family. I was slightly annoyed by a women on this news program, when they were discussing weather or not kids as young as Peter should be riding at such a high level because she basically accused his' parents and the parents of other riders of forcing there children to ride and wanting to live through there kids. They do every thing they can to make racing and every other sport as safe as possible, sadly accidents happen. I just wish people understood that and the fact that these kids are chasing a dream, after all most successful athletes got there starts when they were young. All sports have there dangers and after all motor sports aren't the most dangerous sports in the world, that title goes to equestrian sports. I think instead of pointing fingers we need to see how we can further improve safety not just in motor sports but in all sports.

RIP Ben Gautrey, who was killed during a British Superbike Race just last week.
