He knew straight away that he made a boneheaded mistake. He went right over to Ben to apologize. He knew that Ben would be pissed, but he went over there and took his medicine like a man. Unlike what Pedrosa did with Hayden.

The move was stupid, but he manned up and did the right thing.

I agree 100%. I like Fabi, I like watching him race. He is to WSBK what Lorenzo is to GP. He's young, a bit aggressive and he takes it to the leaders every chance he gets. I thought the move was a bit too much but he is riding his race and trying to make the best of it. Ben Spies has not been anointed king, Fabi had every right to challenge for the position. It didn't work out. We all know Ben will win the championship regardless. Lorenzo is praised for his aggressiveness when he challenged Rossi. Fabi has done the same thing although with a bit less grace.......

Haga is lucky to have a team mate that can run up front and change the outcome of a race, maybe even a championship.Ben is on an island with absolutley no help what so ever. There are numerous Ducati's that could and should have beat Haga today with him at about 70-80 % but ultimately they are technically Ducati employee's. Yamaha has 1 other bike and a rider that seems incapable of helping at the front, even when the guy he needs to beat is wounded and basically a second a lap of the pace of the leaders. It is becoming obvious that Bens talent is hiding the fact that the Yamaha is not that great of a bike. The Ducati is better and im not sure that the Aprilia isnt as good. Bens racecraft the last 5 laps was what won him that race, not the bike. Biaggi was faster but Ben was making it almost impossible for him to get by by getting in deep on the brakes and blocking the apex. Had that been Fabrizio on his heels, it could have ended ugly like the first race.Biaggi is not a super aggressive rider and i felt a lot better that it was him instead of Fabrizio those last few laps.As for Fabrizio, it was an 06 flashback that made me sick to my stomach but after a few minutes it hit me that this was not as bad since it wasnt a teammate that took him out in the next to last race. Plus he showed he was sorry, not once but twice. Before the second race, did anyone see the sign he held up in his pits saying, I love you Ben. Kind of gay, an" im sorry" would have sufficed. It just makes you wonder though what might happen if we get down to the last few races and Fabrizio has ben eliminated from championship contention, will he show the love and leave it between Haga and Spies, or will he be the wreckless battering ram we have either grown to love or hate.

Sure, he did the right thing to apologize, but I don't have respect for his riding. I knew from the beginning of the season, when I saw him dice with Haga, that this guy would eventually .... up big time. He was clearly riding above his head. Sadly, I was right, and he took out the worst possible person. He did a pedrosa, without the chickenshit reaction. But the damage was done.

.... Fagbrizio.

The only silver lining is Spies didn't get hurt. But I must say, has the universe conspired to impede him from winning the title?

By the way, I decided not to post after the race, I took a ride, kick back, drank a few beers, then logged on. I did all this to give my capslock a break. It seems to have worked.

Nothing I have ever seen or probably will ever see, is worse than what Pedrosa did.

But yes, it reminded me of that. Fagbrizio saved alot of face by going beyond to say he was sorry. That does help. But his riding is unrespectable. It wasn't even half race distance. What type of ..... does this? He is impatient, and this was easily a predictable event, especially when you consider he ran his own teammate hard. I thought he would surely take out Haga before, or at least another rider. It has made me nervous to see this ..... near Spies, and now we all see why.

So yeah, respect for saying sorry, no respect for his ..... riding.

If Ben doesn't win this title, it deserves an astrid.

Astrid? Surely not Queen Astrid Eiriksdottir, daughter of Eirik Bjodaskalle and mother of Olaf I of Norway, who ruled Norway from 995-1000

Seriously - what's an astrid?

Fabrizio..... oh Fabrizio, what the hell were you thinking. Spies -25 points. Good of him to apologize, although he went a bit overboard in that department (probably in effort to disguise he major .... up). And this isn't the first time Fabio has pulled an overly aggressive pass, take out another rider, then apologize.

Perhaps you guys may remember this from Portimao:
Angle1
Angle2

Yes this is racing, but he has done this too many times, perhaps he needs to take a lesson from his fellow Roman (Biaggi) and do the smart thing, don't pass if you know it won't stick. As Biaggi said in the post race interview of race 2, he knew he couldn't pass and didn't want to do "what happened in race 1".

Thanks for the links I had'nt seen it. Too funny, dont get on the wrong side of Ben. I thought he was going to punch the helmet off Fabby

^^^^Edit... Oops That was Biaggi and Fabby.^^^^

That was totally unnecessary from Fabby he was never going to go thru on ben on that line. Racing incident sure but he was asking too much of himself. The two crashs are very similar seems like Fabby dose not learn from his mistakes. Ben was really cool about it I'm gutted for him

Haha, hi Jon, yeah that made me laugh, that is after I got over the initial shock and anger. I didn't remember that about Fabi, thanks Boots. My subconscious must have known though, because its clear he riders way above his head. He screwed up on so many levels too, I mean WTF, and this wasn't for the win in the last lap. And the guy you are passing stands to gain the points lead. And...If you take him out your intention is suspect becasue its your teammates rival. On thing is to race him hard, another thing is to try an impossible move at a turn where Spies was killing it. Bad move.

I'm convinced race direction does not exist in WSBK. I mean, look at Biaggi's re-entering of the race when he almost took out another rider or when Checa torpedoed Neucher; not so much as a "incident under review" at very least pretending to care. Yeah, we can all say he didn't "intend" to crash, but does anybody ever intend to crash? NO. Intention to do harm is never the standard, but stupid dangerous reckless riding is, and this clearly fits the bill. This is the guy that has the most wins you just torpedoed who has beat you routinely, what the .... did Fagbriz think he was going to do, win?

True. I have a curious question, has any rider who has been torpedoed in premiere series like WSBK or MotoGP ever come to fists after such an incident? (As I'm sure it has happened in lower classes of racing). BTW, I don't think anybody would have faulted Spies for drop kicking Fabi, hell not even the Ducati garage I think. I just wish he would have taken out his own teammate so they could eventually take a hard look at him and slap the .... out of him until he learns.

Don't know, apart from Casey kicking out a leg we usually leave that kind of carry on to the trackers

Oh . . . like a Spanish asterisk? Man, I used to know this hot Mexican girl name Astrud. But hey I'm far enough off topic already.

Loved the videos. Funny but when I was watching Flab-brizzio running up and gesturing
wildly to Spies I couldn't help thinking how much his body language reminds me of
Sasha Cohen in the movie trailers for Bruno. Then I just watched the two videos of him
at Portamayo and then the dirt track videos and I gotta say that when guys are awkwardly
flailing away in tight leather suits - they look unblieveably gay.

"fear" is a ............ isnt it... Fab knows Ben could stomp the pasta sauce out of that meatball...and he should have...
<

team orders..."you get a chance take out Ben and you get another year with Factory Duc.

fab has been paid off. shhhh!! I've liked haga riding since round 1 in 2009. I hope he wins the championship. However if he doesn't get significantly better in 38 days the title goes to spies. Unless spies screws up big time. Spies is so damn talented that if he wins wsbk 2009, i hope he goes to motogp and has a go at rossi. Only then I will be cheering for Spies:) For now its Haga.

Love that Sayfutdinov vid.

I wish someone had caught the Lorenzo/Barbera fight on video back when they were team mates. Or Eddie Irvine getting decked by Ayrton Senna after he had the nerve to un-lap himself in his first ever F1 race.

Almost a 40 day fast from WSBK. If Haga wins title, they should put two names on the trophy, Haga/Fagbrizio.

BTW, does anybody have a pic of his sign that said, I love you ben spies? Or is this an urban legend?
