I know this forum is all about MotoGP, but watching these young guys rip it up in the Rookies cup, both in Europe and in the US is impressive. SOme of these kids will eventually make it to the big leagues.

This weekend, Toriano Wilson passe away in a racing incident @ VIR. This kid had promise, from Bermuda. A little toast to the young man...RIP

That is really sad to hear. My prayers are with him and his family. Those who race know the risks but little kids should never go before their parents.

rip. man this has got to be 1 of the worst years ever for rider deaths.

Sometimes i don't get riders, when they low side on an apex, they just get up and try to pick up their bike with their backs turned. I mean, think about it...some other rider might just slide off again on the same apex and with the limited peripheal view from helmets, their not going to even know what hit them if that was to happen. Let's hope it doesn't happen, but i've see too many riders do that without paying attention to whats going on around them. Not sure what happend to this kid that passed away.,, but there needs to be more caution especially to the riders who are on track, Yellow flag means be careful and slow the Fucc down...it seems to some riders its a way of making up the gap to whoever they are following, you know?

Just hearing about this today...its very very sad. My condolences to his family and friends. I can't even imagine what it must be like for his family and the rest of the riders.

Very sad indeed. On a side note, the kid that won the race,Hayden Gillem is kin to Nicky Hayden and was named after him.His little brother,Ethan Gillem was killed last year at the age of 10 racing flat track. They both race [raced] for Nicky's dad on Earls Race Team. I probably have a pic of Toriano since i was present in the pits after the Barber round and got pictures of all the racers when they came back to the Red Bull Compound. They all lined up on their bikes for a photo op and it was the most pleasurable part of my weekend. All the little guys in full race leathers, sitting on their steed with big .... eating grins while hundreds took pictures.Im sure they felt like rock stars.

Terrible terrible news. I'm very sad for the friends and family, especially his parents. I can't imagine how devastated they must feel. I'm with you as far as seeing these young boys ride and race. It really is a thing of beauty. This kid is one of the boys they feature in the promotion commercial. Very sad indeed. So much promise.

I was also gutted when Nicky's cousin was killed. Very sad. Just 10 years old. I don't really know what to think about this. It makes me wonder if its worth it and right to put these kids in such a dangerous predicament.

RIP young lads!

RIP young lads!

He wanted to be like cousin Nicky and his parents obliged, good for them.He loved what he was doing.
Here is a little excerpt from a website

Ethan: It was very common for Ethan to tell us what he wanted to do when he grew up – “I want to be a pro road racer like the boys (cousins- the Hayden brothers).” But two days before his death he made an unusual statement that later led us to see that we could do something to honor him and keep his dedication, drive, determination, and vision alive.

May 3, 2007: “Mamaw, you know what I want to do when I grow up? I want to be a pro racer, like Nicky, and have a team of young kids and help them have fun like we do.”
