Qatar Free Practice - Spolier

Good qualifying session. Wow, Jorge is quick - it's gonna be a real battle between Stoner and him for the win tomorrow.
It's gonna be interesting to see how the race rubber for both manufacturers holds up.
Great qualifying by all the rookies - it's going to be a long year for some of the more established riders I feel.
Hopkins - I think you may have made a bad mistake.
Westy - you better start getting your arse into gear or your not gonna finish the season.
The suzukis - I'll reserve judgement for a few more races, but you look typical midpack.
The ducati riders - WTF is going on?
Repsol honda - a team divided, going nowhere in a hurry. Something is going to break there and I think it's going to be Nicky getting shafted at the end of the year.

Migs, you are so predictable.

Don't you think I already knew that? So basically I left it uncovered so you could show everyone how deeply into your ... you are willing to reach to remain confrontational.

You're right. Honda isn't running two bikes because Pedrosa is on the 2008 and Hayden is on the updated 2007. Thanks for clarifying.

I love the internet
<

Even though the bikes they were riding are contrary to what I speculated, I don't think it has anything to do with who the bikes were built for. Nicky has been groomed by HRC to be a conservative points scorer. Pedrosa has been taught by Puig to charge windmills--he switched to the 08 looking for a pole or top 3.

Punchbags are good to let it all out mylexicon

Of course, your speculation on the bikes was not contrary to you prediction since you must have been right all along...the pneumaitc engine was always prefered by Dani it is clearly documented all over the press and interviews
<
it can only now make sense that you are right

Obvoiusly, it does not have anything to do for how the bikes were built for...since the '07 800 was built for Nicky and so had no excuses for his spectacular 07 season...

Wow that was jast all i have to say is well done towesland.

Going to be a sick race 2moz.

I think you have your entire forearm up your ... now, and you still can't find any decent feces to fling.

I hope you haven't run out.

Dude. I just wiki'ed Jr Bob Dobbs. WTF?!

Well done to Jorge, and to all the Yams bar Rossi, well impressed with the Tose. Disapointed with Marco and Westy.

Pretty much the qualifying everyone expected. Last week showed Bridgestone were never going to take pole and the Yamaha is the best bike on the grid.

Tomorrow should be good, If the Ducati still has the best launch control Stoner could still pass the front row into turn 1. I hope he gets swallowed up and has to work to get to the front.

I'm actually looking forward to these guys going to a track they haven't camped out at for weeks to see how well the rookies do, make things a little more unpredictable.

Marco who? He'll be trying to ditch the bike mid year, a swap with Haysacks could be a good idea. ...... riding from West, lots of dirt tracking this weekend.

Nice way to start Monday morning 7am kick off

why do people automatically think hayden would do much better on the duc... melandri and others who have tried the duc have said stoners style uses alot of tc (no im not trying to start an arguement) and hayden last year went better at some tracks when he said he dialed down the tc

Krazy...do you not realize that the Nicky Hayden would destroy Stoner on equal machinery as he did in 2006?
<

And the Ducati suits superbike riders more then GP riders...as you can see from Stoner poor performances in 2007...

Yeah son but the Michies are a bit better on this type of circuit especially as Mr. Hiroshi Yamada said “Although Michelin enjoyed the best of last weekend’s final preseason test of the year in Qatar, the first race of 2008 is a momentous one for Bridgestone, with the fiat Yamaha’s and he also said “basically the character of the track is a bit difficult for us” and “the lower temperature made things more difficult...we don’t have much time to improve our tyres but we tried our best during during this week and we brought some new tyreswe hope we will be good for the race weekend (yeah...that is a statement that....ends all statements!!! Bridgestone’s have the two best riders in the world on their tyres....so what do u think???...u don’t win a race on the qualifying tyres or times!!! Just remember last year Mr. Stoner was at his most devastating form when he started in either 4th or 5th position on the grid!!!....I say NO MORE!!! And “Young punk Lorenzo might think that hes the best or hes racing in the in the 250’s....hheeee....u will find out young what real racing is all about Jorgeous or should that be JorZEROus!!!

Yeah Westy Get UR Act Together Mate!!!

And the Dukes are going to the Italiano Plan!....don’t worry SON!!.....the Dukes can give them 2-3-4 races start as long as casey don’t crash!!!...God Forbid...Amen!!! Cross our fingers and toes

I don't get it either, the Ducati is clearly the hardest bike on the grid to get on with.

I dont think Hayden will get on better with the Duc, I doubt anyone on the grid can tame the bike the way Casey does, I think it may be an option later this year thats all. Simply because Melandri is ultra .... on the Duc and will want off it if he doesn't improve beyond double digit placings. Hayden is a moron if he stays with HRC is all Im saying.

Rocket RandyDP could change the championship outlook, I've got an itchy feeling about him TAKING OTHER PEOPLE OUT!!

I'll see a Doctor.

I think all the speculation on the reasons for stoner's success last season on the ducati (we don't know that he is going to be successful this year yet) is just that, speculation. Some of it is contradictory eg schwantz saying it is the easiest bike to ride. I think all that can be really said is that it and stoner are suited, and several other talented riders have not been suited to it so far. These include several well perfomed 250 riders, including 2 championship winners, so I don't buy the whole motogp dumbed down to suit 250 riders thing. Stoner last year performed much better than he did as a 250 rider. The tc disadvantaging mature riders theory has achieved wide currency, but in my view is still a theory; I think we on this forum may have been among the first to advance it. A ducati insider elsewhere has said the bridgestone fronts have contibuted much more to casey's success than tc, and that casey has demonstrated the ability shown by previous top riders to ride around a bike's faults; I guess he would say that.

I am certainly not an expert on bike riding, but it has been said by others that stoner rides point and shoot, which it seems to me might suit the characteristics of the ducati, particularly the acceleration more than the ducati suits late braking smooth riders. As an ex-superbike rider the ducati might suit nicky as well.

yeah point and shoot. he takes it to a corner. stops, turns it 90 degrees and then he accelerates again.
