MotoGP: Casey Stoner will not replace injured Ducati rider for Argentina race

DO not expect Casey Stoner to make a shock reappearance on the MotoGP grid as a replacement rider next weekend in Argentina.
The two-time world champion has ruled out replacing injured Ducati rider Danilo Petrucci when MotoGP races at the Termas do Rio Honda circuit on April 3.
After wrapping up his second test for Ducati on the heels of the Grand Prix of Qatar, Stoner also affirmed that wildcard appearances are still not on his mind.
“No, we have no thoughts of wildcards or replacements or anything like this,” Stoner said.
“Just because it’s a similar situation to last year, I’m not approaching it in any way the same.”
Last year, when he was a test rider for Honda, Stoner put his hand up to replace the injured Dani Pedrosa at the Austin and Argentinian races, but was turned down by Honda.
“We did some tests with Honda and we knew roughly where our pace was, and I also knew how much effort I was putting in and what I was getting back out of it,” Stoner told FOX SPORTS last month.
“There was a big reason why I planned on racing at Austin last year and that’s because I believed I would’ve been competitive.
“To win the race, probably not. But we would’ve been competitive, we would’ve ruffled a few feathers.”

Stoner logged his first laps aboard Ducati’s 2016 bike in a two-day test at Qatar, although the opening day of running was blighted by showers.
“It starts spitting and raining enough to upset the test, where you can’t really push, can’t really do anything,” he said.
“Then you come in and it immediately stops, so you go back out and it starts raining again ...
“I think we got, maybe, two or three laps in basically where there was no rain.”
The second day was more productive, Stoner completing 65 laps and enjoying himself on the Desmosedici GP.
“(It’s) very, very different,” he said.
“You could feel immediately in the chassis stiffness. Things are a little bit softer, a little bit more progressive, a little bit more forgiving.
“It was fantastic that we actually got to run some laps today. It rained again during the day a few times, and that put a bit more water on the track. Luckily it dried out before my test started and we got some decent laps.
“The conditions haven’t been idea; we’ve had dust clouds when it hasn’t been raining. The track’s in pretty rough condition, but we did have plenty of grip there for us to test what we needed to.
“We got through a pretty big program today, so things are very positive.”
No laptimes have been released from the test.
It is expected that Petrucci will be replaced by Ducati’s other test rider, Michele Pirro, who has past experience of the South American circuit after deputising for Cal Crutchlow in 2014.
Ducati have yet to confirm when Stoner will next test their MotoG
