Pit Beirer (KTM): «Aero beschränkt, Devices weg»

One of the interesting developments with KTM in the paddock is that German-language new sites play an elevated role in disseminating MotoGP news. Anyway, Berier have given speedweek an interview regarding the current state of MotoGP negotiations for the 2027 formula.
He believes the MSMA will ratify modifications to the aero box to reduce the impact of wings on MotoGP performance, and he thinks the manufacturers have lost their appetite for ride height devices (including launch control!). Dorna have apparently demanded that bike performance must not increase, and since the bikes march onward each year, it may be impossible to retain ride height and meet this objective, without completely overhauling the engine regulations. Regarding engines, KTM are convinced that 1000cc engines will be maintained (I'm assuming that means 81mm, 4-cylinder will be retained, but apparently Aprilia want a smaller bore number) and that hybrid powertrains will not be introduced. Honda and Ducati were apparently pushing for uniform hybrid systems, but KTM, Yamaha, and Aprilia were opposed. Assuming none of them defect to the hybrid camp, MotoGP will retain similar powertrains for another 5 seasons after 2026 concludes.
I find these developments to be positive. The loss of hydraulic ride height will hopefully make the racing a bit safer, bring down trap speeds a bit, and take strain off of the tires. Reducing the aero box will hopefully improve the heinous aesthetics, and create less aero wash that has heated the front tires, and occasionally sucked riders off of the track.
The interesting tidbit, imo, is that Aprilia are apparently looking to reduce the bore number, which means the MSMA are toying with ways to reduce engine power, which could lead in some interesting directions. Who knows what they will decide, but I get this weird feeling that CRT might be on the table. Maybe because 1000cc Superbike seems to have reached the end of the line, regarding its regulatory efficacy. I dunno
