I'm no Doc but I have lots of experience with nerve damage in my shoulder. If that's what Pedro has it could be bad news.

I had a mountain bike crash many years ago that resulted in a torn accessory nerve. This resulted in electrical impulses to my trapezius muscle being short circuited. Since the trap wasn't getting any signals it atrophied and my scapula started to wing (basically rotate off it's vertical axis) when I extended my arm. This caused all kinds of instability and ended my days as a rock climber. And the muthfkr hurt all the time when I used it,tingling and numbness in my hand. Doc's said surgery was a long shot and the best bet was rehab and strength building. This took years and it still hain't right.

Your shoulder/arm is the only part of your body that has 360 degrees of rotational motion and is one complex MOFO.

Bad place to have nerve damage

I read that earlier and Pedrosa is playing it off at the moment, I believe he said there is a possibility that one of the screws in his shoulder might be too long and causing some numbness, I believe an mri was inconclusive.

Not a Pedrosa fan per see, but would hate to see his career cut short because of this. The series is definitely more interesting with Pedrosa in it.

Good luck to him.

Compartment syndrome also causes tingling, numbness, and pain. These aren't unusual symptoms for MotoGP riders.

Can't panic yet.

He would hopefully have a neuropraxia ie has streched the nerve leading to reversible loss of function rather than a neurotmesis severing the nerve as bojuhl experienced which is much more problematic, likely to give continuing dysfunction as he describes and poorly responsive even to immediate surgical repair. Even such lesser nerve injuries can take a long time to come good, but the intermiitent nature of his symptoms is probably a good sign and his symptoms may even be due to something else as lex says.

Let's hope so.

I much prefer the Pedro/Stoner type of celebration. ....... astronauts....

Dani's a tough little cookie. He'll bounce back, for sure.

Let's hope so.

And I laughed so much at the randomness of this comment.

I think its safe to say we have taken him off of probation for his 2006 incident. He will be fine.

Maybe good news. Even though i dont like the little ......, i do respect his talents.

Repsol Honda Team rider Dani Pedrosa has been advised to rest for four more weeks to fully recover from the effects of his recent collarbone injury and subsequent surgery. The Spaniard visited Doctor Xavier Mir at the Dexeus Univertity Institute Hospital in Barcelona on Thursday to undergo further medical tests to determine the reasons for the numbness and lack of strength in his shoulder and left arm, which had affected Pedrosa’s performance in the final races of the 2011 season.

After two days of tests, consisting of a CAT scan, an MRI scan, electromyography and Eco-Doppler tests, the need for further surgery was ruled out. Following his four-week rest period Pedrosa, who secured second place in the MotoGP World Championship at the final race of the year in Valencia last Sunday, will start rehabilitation and return to physical training in order to regain full fitness for the first MotoGP tests of the 2011 season, which take place in M alaysia at the beginning of February.

Doctor Xavier Mir

“Due to the trauma caused by the crash in Japan where Dani broke his left collarbone and needed surgery to fix the bone with a titanium plate, the nerve located over the collarbone, between the neck and the shoulder, received a severe contusion and the heavy inflammation of this area causes fatigue and lack of strength all through the arm. He will need a period of four weeks of complete rest with physiotherapy and anti-inflammatory treatment.”

Dani Pedrosa

“I’ve been suffering a lot since Japan and I knew something was wrong with my arm because after the surgery I didn’t get better. This lack of strength was very strange and annoying! I was worried because after Estoril we checked the collarbone again and it looked like there was nothing wrong with the plate, but we had no more time between races to check more deeply the reasons f or my lack of strength. I have had other injuries and surgery in the past and I know that you need some time to recover and get fit again, but this time it was taking too long. Now everything is clear and it’s good to know that the collarbone is OK and I don’t need any more surgery that would take a long time to heal. I hope that within these four weeks the inflammation passes gradually and that I will be able to start rehabilitation and training in the middle of December. We had a good test in Valencia after the final race and I want to start the winter tests in February in Malaysia in a good shape in order to be ready for next year’s championship.”

Oh the 2006 incident was only important to a few people
<
most of those got over it when Hayden won

It was after all "Karma" ...... or perhaps "mud in the eye" .

DOn't worry, in 06 Puig only got the leftovers of Pedros "humble pie" so he hasn't exactly escaped the "kentucky karma"

After two days of tests, consisting of a CAT scan, an MRI scan, electromyography

The electomyography is the test I had. I had the intramuscular version. They ran these long probes with wires on them into my back and up under my scapula. Then had me move my arm around in different directions. The impulses from my brain to my muscle made these seismograph type lines on a chart and produce sound through what looked like a cheap stereo speaker. Most of the sounds generated were a nice crisp BZZZZPPP. But when they got to the nerve that was damaged it made kinda of a crappy sounding PFFFLLLLT sound and the lines on chart were flatter. Cool .... but the the probes fckn sucked.
