Only 5 engines for the rest of the season!

I don't think it's fair to change the rules halfway through the season.

Everyone's going on about only having 5 engines for the rest of the season, but how many are they going to be allowed for the whole season?

This doesn't seem to be workable to me!

That link basically says all the rules for 2010 and for the end of 2009. The riders will be allowed 6 engines for the entire championship. That doesn't seem very right to me but the thing that stood out most to be is the fact that only one machine can be used per race?! They are ruining motogp with their rules. It is getting beyond silly now. Also it said only 5 people can work on the bike in the pits. How many normally work on the bike? So if you take it outside the pits can more people work on it?

I heard that MotoGP is also becoming a 2 day event. Surely that is a lie? I read it on the MCN website...

Is it more expensive to build more engines or powerful engines that last longer ?? I wouldn't mind betting this rule will actually make the sport more expensive. Plus if a sat team that this rule is supposed to help needed an extra engine at the cost of 10 points but realisticly would not earn that much in a race , would they just sit out the race to save the points they already earned ?

i read that somehwere to but wasnt mcn, i remember the article said about losing the friday but that rule is still under consideration so its possible it could happen.

i was thinking about creating a (save motogp) facebook and do a petition, also create a youtube vid with links but not sure if it would work

next year will be pretty lame if these crazy rule changes keep happening

Here we are again... yet another stupid rule!

It is more expensive to build an engine with more power than an engine that will last longer.

that was not my question though.

let me put it another way. which cost more 3 x 250 hp engines or 1 x 250 hp engine that will last as long as the original 3.

prove it.That's hardly revolutionary. Maximizing power requires a lot of very precise engineering effort. Getting a lot of life out of an engine can be accomplished by detuning and generous tolerances. The issue with his response is that he reframed the question into something somewhat irrelevant. He didn't really say anything revolutionary or controversial, though.

I was joined up to a "keep motogp on british eurosport" group and that kinda worked apart from the fact they are not allowed to play the actual race live...

6 engines for the whole season, that's what it said alright. I don't see how they can make that work, I was under the immpression that they stripped down and rebuilt the engines after they had raced, (I could be wrong there)

If they only have 6 engines I don't see they will want to waste any on free practice, they'll just run the two days!

According to shenton or burgess (can't remember which one said it), 6 engines for the season is about half of what they need now assuming no bad crashes or unforeseeable mechanical problems. To be specific, the number of kilometers required out of 1 engine is now about double or a couple thousand kilometers each. Currently, I think they get around 1000 to 1500 kilometers before servicing.

Parrish said similar stuff like the fans etc will see less track time next year.
if theres no need to be on the track.they wont be (save the engine) and there will be times when riders only go out at the end of a practice session.(changing conditions)

i think they get skipped at around 800 to 1000 km, there now looking for 1800km to make 6 engines last the season. not sure if they also included hungry in this calculation though.

Teams like Francisco Hernando (ended up with 12) and Scot (17 so far) may end up with ‘Negative’ points if they chose not to sit out of races!!!

What a stupid rule...
