I found a site that i downloaded the whole broadcast from Eurosport live including pre race and post race.I have watched the race 5 times and here are are few thing i learned and a few observations.
1 You Europeans have no idea how good you have it when it comes to Gp coverage.Compared to the crap we get from Speed TV,i thought i was going to be ill.Even the announcers, whom ive heard some of you guys trash, were excellent compared to the drones im used to.They were somewhat funny and had a working knowledge of what was going on.
2 They reported that the difference between the performance of the Factory Yamahas and customer bikes during the race was because of a tuned down map on the spring mototrs to get them to the end of the race on fuel.Unlike in qualifying where they could run full tilt and not worry about fuel. They said in the straits alone, they were 4/10ths slower than in qualifying. After the race,Toseland was virtually begging for the new engine. He figures his performance might have been one for the ages with the new motor.Shows how much i know,i allways figured more RPM's and horsepower meant more fuel consumption, that is obviously not the case.
3 After watching the race numerous times,Rossi's tire did not appear to be shredded any more than the riders he was battling with towards the end of the race.I would stop and zoom on everyone around him and they looked the same. After a high speed right hander, there would be a line on the rear tire that would disappear after the next slower right hander.Lights, reflection, dont know.
4 The announcer summized that the Ducati camp had the computer set up to come on more power as the race wore on to let things unfold and also to let the Stones get up to temp before abusing them. The first 5-6 laps, the Duc wasnt even pulling the customer Yamaha's in a draft and then boom, you saw the speed advantage everyone was waiting on.The announcers said,I think Casey just found 6th gear.
5. Even though the Ducati is very fast,it appears to be the least stable bike out there.Front end shake and chassis flex under hard acceleration out of slowr corners is much worse than the other bikes.Casey just keeps it pinned and lets it come back to him.The more i see of him the more im convinced it is him that is the superstar, not the bike.
